At all times, designers ought to ask themselves if their products and services are solving problems and if the people on ‘the other side’ (i.e. the customers) are going to like what they do. Great design is usually instinctively obvious to us. We know it when we see it! However, what’s not as clear is knowing when things can be significantly improved. Sometimes, we’re simply not aware that there are everyday problems to be solved, whatever we do.
Some designers embrace their creativity to the max and go the extra mile to make things better and more convenient for the people around them. Our team here at Bored Panda has gathered some of the most impressive examples of genius solutions to everyday problems to show you that we all deserve to live in a world full of quality design. We wanted to learn more about how product designers can figure out their customers' current and future needs, so we got in touch with marketing psychology speaker Matt Johnson, Ph.D. He was kind enough to answer our questions in detail. Read on for our full interview.

Palm oil is in *everything,* at least in the U.S. Cosmetics, bath and body products, too many foods to list but especially peanut butter. It should be avoided wherever possible unless it's specifically certified sustainable, because palm oil plantations are massively destructive to habitat in Indonesia. It's the major reason orangutans are going extinct.

Product labelling falls under the purview of the chronically understaffed and underfunded US FDA. But it sure would be great if they required this level of *legible* ingredient labelling. But the government prefers pandering to the billionaires instead of protecting its citizens.

My problem is that "where it comes from" is a bit of uh, whitewash. Sodium monoflourophosphate hardly domes from calcium flouride, nor would I be OK with describing Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate as coming from palm oil. I even have a little problem with making it seem like glycerin is like eating your veggies.

This one made me laugh, Foeniculum vulgare is just the scientific name for fennel, so it says - ingredient: fennel, Comes from: fennel.

Genuine question for all those who ride their bikes in the snow. Do you have special snow tires for your bikes that you swap out for winter or do you put chains on the tires? I'm from the New England and I'm used to snow, but I don't think I've seen too many people trying to ride their bikes in it. Just curious how you're able to get traction and I'm guessing if you have a considerable amount of snowfall and the roads haven't been cleared that it would be extremely difficult to maneuver?

I love these! People often see this photo and complain because people shouldn't be "ignoring their baby" but also library computers are so heavily used to access government services, job applications and university work, and if baby is right there next to their adult it's easier for everyone.

I never thought of band-aids as being colored for white people. Probably because they have never matched my skin color and I don't much care if they do or not. It's just a band-aid. However, if having different colored ones makes people happy then I am glad they are making them. Personally, I'd rather have the ones with cool designs like cars, dinosaurs, etc. :)

That's pure fancy b******t. They try to convince my hospital to buy this but it's useless. As a nurse i can tell you seeing the veins is not the problem, you want to "feel it". This light only show you really tiny superficial veins. We were excited to try it but it's so disappointing.
