The internet is a wonderfully chaotic place. One minute you’re scrolling past cute cat photos, the next you’re staring at a food combo that absolutely shouldn’t exist. And then there are the texts — unfiltered, unhinged, and often shared without a second thought.
Today, we dove into the depths of r/TrashyText to find texts of all kinds: messages, notes, screenshots, and conversations that are equal parts questionable and hilarious. Keep scrolling to see the ones that left people doing a double take.

So I Have This Friend On Instagram
Trashy Boyfriend, Trashy Stranger
Globally, the internet has become everyone’s favorite hangout spot. Billions of people log on daily to scroll, post, comment, and share just about everything. From memes and life updates to oddly specific opinions, the online world never sleeps. Social media alone has pulled in a massive chunk of the global population. That means nearly everyone has a digital footprint now, whether they realize it or not. With so many voices online, things can get entertaining fast. But they can also get messy just as quickly.

Even if you do feel like that never say/write/type it. Imagine if your child discovers it.
With so many people online at the same time, using the internet responsibly has become more important than ever. Governments and platforms are starting to step in to set boundaries, especially for younger users. In Australia, for example, kids under 16 are now banned from using major social media platforms. New accounts can’t be created, and existing ones are being shut down. It’s the first rule of its kind and has caught the attention of countries worldwide. The goal is to create a safer digital space. Whether it works long-term remains to be seen, but the conversation has definitely started.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is exhibit A on why we need a) science-based s.e.x ed and b) unrestricted access to abortion and bodily autonomy for women.
Just spit balling here, but maybe access to birth control would also be a good idea.
Load More Replies...If she has five kids at 19, and they are not quintuplets, then there is a high probability this was not her decision - or, at leats, did not have the full capacity to decide for herself.
You're aware that it's not easy for a woman to get her tubes tied at that young age, yeah? When I asked for it, the rule was "woman's age X number of kids must be 100". If that's still going on, she COULDN'T get it earlier. But sure, stomp on her, that's easier than get your fat ars.es up and demand changes to the law.
agreed but,,,i am now 78 and had no kids...got my tubes tied when i was 31! 1st doc was an ahole catholic and called me selfish...??? the 2nd doc, said " no problem " and i never regretted it one iota....my body, my choice- circa 1978...go figure.😆
Load More Replies...To help out for those who don't know... in the US a woman is very very likely to be refused sterilization unless she has 2 or more kids, is over 30, and in some cases has confirmation from her spouse that he is on board with the procedure. My friend had to go to over two dozen doctors to find anyone who was willing to do the procedure because she was only 25 and " what if she marries and her husband wants kids" So that's why she has kids and is now getting sterilized. The literal guidelines in med school are to not sterilize someone unless they meet the above conditions or have a genetic condition or health condition that would make pregnancy life threatening.
I wonder when that became a thing. US, 1989, 25yo, no kids.Dr asked a lot of why questions but I got my tubes tied with no waiting, restrictions, permission from anyone. I'm not a fan of getting old but I'm glad I was young then.
Load More Replies...At least she has realised that it would be a mistake to have more babies and she's doing something about it. Many people don't and continue to have babies when they are already struggling with the children they have. We also need to remember that reproductive coercion is a thing.
She was probably groomed by a “good” white conservative Christian man.
Load More Replies...I was lucky - I wanted my tubes tied and Kaiser said Ok! Way cheaper for *them* than me popping out kids once a year. (this was also approx. 50 years ago in California, so...)
Good lord. When did she start having babies—12?? She must live in the southern U.S. and be a member of one of the more barbaric Christian churches. She may have been groomed. 😢
While that's possible, there are multiple cultures around the world that see nothing wrong with child marriages. And there are unfortunately lots of people not members of any such cultures who a***e young children.
Load More Replies...Fortunately and happily, I live in a state where my doctor tied my tubes - at my request - following the C-section birth of my third child. No, they did not need to consider whether my husband agreed or not. They did confirm and re-confirm my decision several times as my due date approached. That was all. Years later, my daughter had the same done after baby #2. We live in a civilized state.
Wish you would have done that BEFORE you had kids...or at least used a c****m Christ
Yes, nothing better than spicy fresh home-grown declaration from a judgemental b***h. .Jenna, if you're lucky, either you'll grow up and develop some nuance, or pull your head out of your conservative christian a*s, or both.

Load More Replies...According to officials, these rules aim to reduce the harmful effects of social media’s addictive design. Many platforms are built to keep users scrolling endlessly, often pushing content that isn’t great for mental health. For young people especially, this can affect confidence, mood, and overall wellbeing. The concern isn’t just screen time, but the type of content being consumed. Endless comparison, unrealistic standards, and viral negativity can take a toll. Slowing that cycle is the hope behind these changes. It’s a reminder that online life can have real-world effects.

On an individual level, posting responsibly matters just as much. It’s easy to hit “send” or “post” without thinking twice. But once something is online, it can spread far beyond your control. Before sharing, it helps to pause and think about the impact. Is it misleading, harmful, or discriminatory in any way? Could it affect someone else negatively? Even jokes can land badly in the wrong context. A little extra thought can save a lot of trouble later.

Privacy and safety go hand in hand when spending time online. Oversharing personal details can put people at real risk. Things like your full date of birth, home address, or phone number should never be public. Even small bits of information can be pieced together by the wrong people. Keeping some parts of your life offline is actually smart, not secretive. The internet doesn’t forget easily. Protecting your personal information helps keep your digital space safer and calmer.

Posting fake or misleading content is another slippery slope. Whether it’s exaggerated stories, false claims, or edited screenshots, misinformation spreads fast. What starts as a joke or a “harmless post” can quickly snowball. People believe what they see, especially when it’s shared confidently. That’s how rumors and false narratives take off. Being honest online builds trust, even in casual spaces. Not everything needs to be dramatic to be interesting.
