This Instagram Account Shares Memes From The ’90s, Here Are The 95 Most Nostalgic Ones (New Pics)
If you’ve been on social media recently, you’re likely familiar with the “What were you like in the ’90s?” trend. That exact text appears atop the image, accompanied by a verse from “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls, a song that exploded in popularity during that era.
Even celebrities joined in. Saved By the Bell stars Tiffani Thiessen and Mario Lopez did it, and so did famed pro skater Tony Hawk.
There’s something about the ’90s that continues to captivate people today, even the younger generation who weren’t even born yet. So, to fulfill everyone’s craving for ’90s nostalgia, here are some posts from the Insta80s90s Instagram page.
For those of you who lived it, enjoy your trip down memory lane. For Gen Z and younger, here’s a quick history lesson.

The ’90s have returned in full force in 2026, particularly in fashion trends. Major cities in the United States even held JFK Jr. look-alike competitions to commemorate the late son of John F. Kennedy, who tragically passed away in the late ’90s.
Experts like psychologist Dr. Mark Travers refer to this trend as “new-age nostalgia,” which is essentially nostalgia in the digital age.
Mmm. If that's 1990s, you can stuff it. 1970s Christmasses were better in my admittedly biased memory. One tin of Quality Street lasted for well over a fortnight - back in the days when the 'tin' really was made of metal, and held quite a lot.
Ahem. Steve Irwin, 100% good guy who suffered a tragic end. But: he was following in the footsteps of David Attenborough - who has the great good fortune to still be broadcasting wholesomeness. I do miss Jim Henson. (if you don't know about David Attenborough - well, his brother Richard had a starring role in Jurassic Park. 😉 Link follows)
In an article for Forbes, Dr. Travers mentioned how new-age nostalgia has been manifesting in recent years through retro camera filters, digital archives, retro gaming, and social media throwbacks.
“Our digital devices serve as portals to the past, allowing us to effortlessly access and relive cherished memories with just a few taps or clicks,” Dr. Travers wrote.
Dr. Travers noted how technology has “democratized the nostalgic experience,” whether through rediscovering classic songs on streaming services or exploring virtual archives of artifacts from decades ago. He also mentioned the positive impacts of new-age nostalgia, including emotional connection.
“Digital nostalgia fosters deep emotional bonds and a sense of shared history among individuals of all ages and backgrounds,” Dr. Travers wrote, noting that exchanging nostalgic social media posts forges meaningful connections between people who share similar memories.
Those were the days! When teenage boys got excited by triangular t!ts.
For those of you who lived through the ’90s, which of these posts hit you the hardest? And for those who are too young and are only learning about the culture and decade through social media, which of these posts are you most curious about?

Mary Poppins...me jumping off the roof with an umbrella and breaking my leg
Oh! That climbing frame! We had one at primary school. So many broken bones... No, really - we got banned from climbing it if we weren't wearing trainers.
Yes! When did “wet cement” become a popular colour choice for automobiles?
These days..a small grocery bag is worth (if you're lucky!) at least, a £100 quid!
Ah, come on. Ninja Turtles is like mythology. The story will be told, and re-told, and re-told over and over again for many generations to come. There are a dozen different versions and one day there may be a dozen more. This is the beauty of the Ninja Turtles. Don't forget this friends, in the first movie Splinter was a rat turned rat/human; in the cartoon before that Splinter was a human turned human/rat; and what's even crazier is that before that (in the original comics) Shredder died in the very first episode! TMNT has been an ever evolving beast since it's inception. So if you actually enjoyed TMNT in the 80s and early 90s then you should be able to accept that there's a girl turtle, Shredder has a daughter that Leo has a crush on, and April is a black teenager. That's how mythology works, MF.
My husband had those sheets when we were dating. They got “lost” during a move…
I remember the days before pizzas were available. Heck, I remember the days I had never heard of pizza!
*falls asleep and gets banged in the head getting a headache for the next 20 minutes*
I played the Oregon Trail in class for a project (all my friends died, AND I DIED 10 MILES AWAY FROM THE END)
Return to Oz! My favorite movie from my childhood. ❤️ Apparently Mombi traumatized the kids and the viewers needed more therapy than Dorothy. Nowadays, my favorite genre is horror movies, so no surprise there.
"Not the Mama" was a popular phrase for a while. The show was great.
Fun fact: for the future Biff Tannen (2015), they had a Trumpster-adjacent personality in mind.
I have a bunch of these somewhere. One of my kids tore part of the pikachu ball though :(
Anyone wants to bet that, in the future, people WILL discovered one of those Nokia phones buried somewhere and still will have some battery left? Just like Toyota trucks, there's no way of destroy them ( 'Jezza' of TopGear)
In the 30’s or 40’s my grandfather paid some guy a quarter not to ask out my grandma so he could
KMart still sell that makeup carrier, I bought the House Yeti's partner one for Christmas just gone and she loves it! She's 22.
Does that mean both films exist in the same movie universe?
So is this song going to become the new anthem for menopausal women? Maybe we should take off all our clothes.
My hair always got caught on the button like things on the chair back. Always got some ripped out any time I stood up after sitting in them
This reminds me of when my socks would slide down inside my shoes. Hated that.
I always liked Jim Carey more in his serious roles. Same with Robin Williams.
Ufff! My little brother when I hit my 40 b-day made a LOT of fun of me (as usual) by putting a blue badge in my car at work, a box of nappies, etc, etc! Our mum and Dad couldn't stop laughing at his mischievous creativity along with our workers, my Wife and his Wife. He's 5 y younger than me and my evilness can't wait for him hitting the 40 mark. Uff! My revenge against his b*m will be so sweet that I can taste it!
A perfectly normal home for a normal family to own back in 90's USA.
I want to know who the jerk is who went through systematically downvoting everyone! I got a blister up voting and canceling them out. Jeez, it can't be spring break already can it?
Mike F- Someone who's grumpy that they missed out on the '90s? A troll with too much time who thrives on Grinching it? Thanks for being a stand up guy and countering their puny behavior 🌞
Load More Replies...There's a LOT of positive good memories for me! The only negative I can think of is, Mum and Dad had a video camera and they did a lot of recordings of me and my little brother when we were kids and today, they don't hesitate to show those videos to my Wife and the 'midget' of my brother Wife when they ask my parents...while him and I we're cringing and watching our Wives smirking and stuff
Superleggere- I won't down vote you. Just some friendly advice, as English may not be your primary language: Careful with the "m-word". It's considered a slur, whereas "dwarf" isn't
Load More Replies...we had a client ask for e-cards (greeting cards) last week. I asked my colleague which decade they think we are living in
