Grades based on test scores are always a horrible way to measure a person's self worth!

My best friend from college had been laughed at by her special ed teacher when she said she wanted to be a teacher. She told her she couldn't even get into college. Did I mention she was my best friend from college? I don't think she should have been in special ed at all. I think they put her there because her family's primary language was German and instead of treating her like an ESL student, they treated her like she couldn't learn.

I don't care how many times I read this, it's always a warm fuzzy reminder of how there's other humans out there, and, maybe it makes me tear up a little.. 🥲❤️

Reminds me of a story where at a meat plant, when the owner was closing up for the night, one of the guards insisted one of the inspectors is still on site, and when he asked why he would think that, the guard said the man greets him warmly ever morning and wishes him a good night when he leaves, and that night he never got a goodbye and said that inspector always waited around for him no matter what to say goodbye, and that he looks forward to it every day because this one inspector was the only one who didnt just walk by him every day but treated him as a person. They inspected the plant, and found him unconscious in one of the walk-in freezers and they were able to save his life. Proof treating people like humans with dignity is always a good policy

I never understand this kind of attitude. At my work, I always chat with and joke around with the custodian and cleaner staff. A few times I get them coffee, donuts/muffins just to say thanks, because they're doing such a thankless, much needed job. I supported them some years back when they went on strike for a more living wage too, regardless what my bosses thought about it. Also, the custodians at my kids school? Everyone loves them, they're super friendly and do everything around the school and the kids are taught to treat them and talk to them with the same respect as the teachers. Because, you know...we're all not Aholes.

There's an autistic guy that works where I work at. We're in different departments, most everyone is mean to him, which is insane because we're adults, we shouldn't be. But I always try to wave at him and say hi when I see him, I can tell he really appreciates it.

I'm not tearing up at this, nope.

crows are incredible creatures... they are wicked intelligent. they play pranks on each other. they have funerals for fallen crows. they are extremely loyal. they love shiny things. they will repay kindness to those who are willing to give... they take a second to trust but once they trust you, you have a friend. they are beautiful and they are very loving... plus so many other cool personality traits... crows are really amazing creatures

I used to share my scone with a crow. They would wait for me on my bike seat while I went in the store. My prize was a cute birdy dance. They knew how to work the human.

Crows are actually brilliant. That was absolutely intentional.

I wonder where those people shoving and pushing her are now. Most probably gone, along with their twisted, outdated, weird mindset, while she perseveres and lives her best life.

I can not even contemplate what is going through these men's heads. Why would they care if she wanted to do it?
