Netizens praised the boys’ mothers for turning them in.
Some even questioned how they managed to get into the library twice and cause this level of destruction before authorities were finally alerted.

Pretty depressing that turning them in and holding them accountable for their actions is now considered noteworthy
I think the most important is to send these boys to therapy. They have to learn how to express their feelings, how to deal with rage, do they have remorse? After therapy they still have to do community service.
I think the most important is to send these two little s***s to military school. They'll learn how to express their feelings soon enough
Load More Replies...As a mum of two kids now 21m-24f and having had step kids since I was 18 ,now 60 . I have no issues turning them in IF I find out they had done something like this , I did it once with a step son for burglary , (he never did it again ) . So my own two knew without a doubt you f around ,I will hold them accountable and march em down to the police station in a heartbeat , it’s called DECISIONS AND CONSEQUENCES!!! and god for bid any of my kids (inc step kids ) stabbed or shot anyone as much as I live them THEY ARE DOING TIME !! I’d make sure of that ,firm but fair ,mine have never been in bother with police , never been bullies. N while they both live at home they are independent kids jobs since 16 and will take no c**p off anyone . And woe betide anyone harms me , or their mates ,ie school bullies ,n now co workers ,or our dogs !! all round well adjusted kids ,and I’m a single parent now 13 yrs of being so , what these parents did was spot on !! THIS IS HOW ITS DONE !!!!!! X
And it looks like such a lovely well cared-for library too. I hope the little s***s learn a harsh lesson.
I agree with the parents. I called the police on my daughter when she was about give. Some older girls had set fire to my fence by stuffing a rag in an oil can and lighting it. In other words, a petrol bomb! She stood there and watched. I put a stop to it, called the police and she had her first and only smack! I acted out of fear really but she learned her lesson. The other kids? Their mum said her little darlings didn't do anything...
The 'what do you think?' bit at the end isn't appropriate. Several of those alternatives can and should be used in parallel. In fact I'd be fully behind all of them but the criminal charges, and I wouldn't be to upset with all a criminal case either: the record is sealed when they become adults. But really, I can see a good outcome in a court sentencing them to cleanup, mandating counselling, and the school expelling them.
Not only should they receive punishment for this, they should also have counciling to see what is wrong and get them headed in the right direction. There is something mighty unhealthy about wanting to destroy things for fun or revenge. Hats off to mothers who realize this and are willing to see their kids learn from others what is acceptable and what is not. Hopefully this is going to correct their behavior before they become criminals. If they are angry at their mothers, give em time to see the mother's did the right thing and thank them later on.
What should also happen, in addition to paying for their crime by helping with the cleanup and repairs of the library plus working off the $50,000 damage, is to find out the root cause of this behavior. WHY did it happen? How can we fix it so the same triggers don’t happen again? Yes, their mothers turned them in, but what’s been going on in their homes to cause this in the first place?
