Instead of getting a pat on the shoulder or a raise, this guy was fired for doing a really, really good job. Basically, he had planned a vacation, so he prepared his team for the week he wasn’t going to be around. And he did it so well, as those seven days were going by, the company thought they don’t need him anymore. Big mistake.
“It’s actually an old company, so their success is mostly behind them,” the guy wrote. “Titles and structures were created back in their big days.” All the hard work and overtime he put into optimizing various processes there, everything was simply disregarded. The stress of losing a job with a special needs child, however, forced the man to create his own business. And just when things were getting steady, he received a call from his ex-employer. Scroll down to check out the incredible rollercoaster ride of a life this dude was leading for the past couple of months and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

People wanted to know more about the story, so the guy soon elaborated
Everyone couldn’t be happier for him
I got laid off from my previous employer after 8 years, after they closed the office and moved out of state. We all new it was coming, even though for months they denied it. Even after the mailman gave one of the reps a change of address for the company and supplies stopped being restocked they still denied it. After about 2 months into my new job I received a text from my old boss. Asking me if I would comeback to the company and work remotely. After laughing my a*s off I responded with NOT TODAY SATAN...NOT TODAY.
Yous should have replied: "Hahahaha! Kiss my a**e!"
Load More Replies...Great article. Terrible use of memes. The blue penguin is "Socially Awkward Penguin," while the red one is "Socially Awesome Penguin." When you put the blue on top of the red, it denotes that a SOCIAL situation started out badly but ended up well. For example: Hot girl/guy trips over my leg (blue); I catch them (red). In the context of this article, I would suggest using Bad Luck Brian and Success Kid.
that or recognize that you are the only one that cares about the politically correctness of memes...
Load More Replies...In most cases of an ineffective or toxic work environment it's one or more managers who needs to be fired. Oddly enough, they don't see it that way.
Often management think they are trying new directions, but in fact they are doing the same thing as before, only describing it in a different way. If your head's up your butt you can turn right, or turn left, but your head is still up your butt.
Sometimes you have to have your face pushed into the dirt because you can't see the sh*t storm you're running into. It's awesome when you look at it as an opportunity to change direction instead of "why me?". Great work, honey. You are an inspiration. :D
He's actually very kind for choosing to help them even though he was sort of "just thrown away" before that. I can't stop smirking for how fate worked well for him and for me he's a good guy! He works really hard and whatever he has now, he deserves it! What happened to that company makes me think that Karma is always a "friendly" neighbor.
oh do I luv this story....mine is similar, got rid of me for almost nothing, the work stopped there because I was doing most of the work. So the big boss blamed my supervisor & fired him. Then things got really, really bad, nothing getting done, (the new supervisor told me that when I bumped into him at the gym)....So three weeks after getting rid of me & one week after getting rid of my former boss, the vice president calls the big boss & fires him...hilarious...things never have gotten back to where they were, and the product quality has fallen from "best in the market" to less than average. What idiots. Glad I am out of there.
I don't know if this is true, but I'd tend to believe it, because I recognize two things from my own experience: 1- After leaving a bad job, you feel bad for a few hours, but realy good in the days after. Even before finding a new job. 2- All the jobs I've left, collapsed within two years after. At least, in this story, the people had the good sense of finding out their mistake.
Before this I was self Employed a few years before having children.. There’s nothing like being self Employed .. I’m now retired but many years back I was Employed by a Cothes Company, I was Managing the Business, it was a run down Business and would close if not managed properly, found out why a couple of months later... In that time I had done very well and the Monthly intake was doing very well but I found out that a couple of the staff were removing items from the store without paying so I reported it to our Area manager.. well don’t know what was going on there But I was fired a few days later with no reason at all Although I had bought up the Takings quite well above the monthly Budget..Even the Management Emailed me Congratulating me on my good effort so quickly..So sure enough 2 months after leaving the Business had to SHUT DOWN ! I was so happy for what they had done to me..Listen to this, I got employment straight away in another store selling all sorts of items from cleaning to exercise equipment & Beauty products ..and there again the Manager I had at the store didn’t give a damn about the business, used to wonder off for walks to have her ciggie breaks any time & used to let me alone to unload everything by myself so I reported her & Management said they had been keeping an eye on her for a while but I .. the last straw came when one day she changed the rosters after I had left for home & the next day there was no one there in the morning to Open the store.. well I had , had enough & couldn’t put up with her any longer anymore so I decided to resign ,.. Management did beg me to stay as they were close to catching her doing other illegal things but I still left & sure enough just a month later that business shut down as well .. I never wish a business to go down like that but Management should have listented to me then I went into self employment and it’s the best thing I could have done ... Did very well by the way.. if a Business is run properly and fairly it does well in the long run 😂🤗
OMG... were you working at the same toxic place I was in for far too long? Same story! Very high staff turnover, paid them peanuts, the directors were con men, the sales guys were full of s**t and clients realised this eventually. The place was making me mentally ill and physically exhausted. So glad I got out of the unhealthy hole. Life is way too short to let anybody suck the happiness out of you.
This is why you appreciate a good thing when you have it. Good for him.
When you see obvious problems in work flow and processes, and use your intelligence and expertise to suggest improvements, you are perceived as critical and disloyal to the boneheaded executives who set it up that way. You can't fix stupid.
I had something different, but similar. When I retired they decided to eliminate my job. Management decided the main office could handle everything field office did. I saw it coming but as I was retiring, I burned my bridges. Two months later my phone rang. Not interested for so many reasons, but I see now they have restored the field job. No idea how or what is cost.
I left a job as a receiving manager that paid ten dollars an hour and they called me periodically before Management tours to come straighten and organize things for 50 dollars per hour .
After being fired, he his child's medical needs were covered by Medicaid. Without this socialized medicine program, he might not have been able to launch his contracting business.
One important nugget in the story; after he was fired, his child obtained insurance via Medicaid. Without that "socialized" program, he might not have been able to launch his contracting business.
I have askpergers and hdd and spd and otd and run a scraping business and am 16 and need to work on my sentences
it's a good thing that he's a good guy, if it was me "HELL NO! did'nt you said you don't need me anymore?"
This is the best job story ever! Loaded with ALL of the KARMA! LOL
I say the vacation thing was the best thing of his life, so he's making double the money he was making, got extra somewhat vacation days (the days after he was fired). And now we're here.
Sorta same thing happened to me. Brought in to supervise front office and make things run more smoothly. Got sick and was on sick leave for a few weeks. My employees were trained really well and they had initiative. They stuck me in a back office doing time consuming, but worthless, work. Slowly fell apart in front office. Got sick again because of stress, decided to quit. Everyone left not so happy anymore! It's hard to say I feel good about things going bad, because the people left are still trying. Mgmt is the one dealing the cards, and they're not doing so well.
176+ people are not nobody. Also, this time it's important, because it's a problem that affect us all. Besides that, it serves as an observation for people working in HR management and other, more professional bosses.
Load More Replies...Actually, this time evidence is obtainable. The business exchange between the two companies would be documented. Also, both enterprises would be registered with a specific code, and the author's resumé, as well as his former boss'es documents, would prove that this guy worked there.
Load More Replies...I have absolutely zero interest in that! Have a lovely day, bot.
