Father Punches Comedian In The Face Over “Disgusting” Joke About His Three-Month-Old Son

Did people miss the part where he says "When he grows up"? The comedian was not sexualising a baby. This joke was a direct result of the nasty hate that father was spewing.

I dont think what the comedian said was that bad, and it was entirely true, any child can grow up to be any sexual orientation and be promiscuous with people of different ethnicities or be completely straight and completely chaste, he didnt say I hope something bad happens to your child, to me what he said was, I don't agree with your racist homophobic views and it's entirely possible your child will have different views than you and you will then have to deal with that when they grow up, now down vote me I dont care

The joke was unfunny and in horrifically bad taste, an apology is justified. But the people condoning violence and accusing anyone who disagreed of being child predators are sick in the head.

like most conservatives, he did not understand that the joke was not about the baby, it was about the fathers conservative idiocy, and what will the father do if the son turns out to be gay....this is a big problem with human beings who react emotionally without logical thinking. In the meantime, clearly the father is gay and there is nothing wrong with that.

It seems like whatever someone says is off limits then justifies physical violence, which should never be an option in civilized society no matter what was said. Just ask Will Smith about it.

So much text to wade though, but nowhere can I find what the joke actually was. As such the whole post is completely pointless. My limited Spanish implies that he simply said that no-one could tell if the child might end up gay or as a famous footballer, so I'm not sure what the problem was.

It was a hypothesis: in the future he may be gay. The father has attacked gay people for being gay before. Will he still love his son if he is gay WHEN HE GROWS UP? Honestly people, those of you who defend this violent neo nazi should go back to school and learn some reading comprehension. And some tolerance, because you have none, even if you think you do. The "joke" wasn't funny, but if you defend that attacking people is OK when they say something you don't like, YOU are the a*****e.

If there’s anything everyone should know about comedians, it’s that nothing is “off limits” and the surest way to get them to make a joke is to tell them that a subject or person is “off limits”. Nobody has a right to not be offended or physically attack someone that offends them. Was the joke tasteless and unfunny? To most people, the answer is probably “yes” but that doesn’t really matter. I can agree that the internet has made people a lot bolder in saying questionable (and worse) things but the joke, such as it was, was directed more at the dad than anyone. Actions do have consequences but if every controversial thing a person might say has the potential to provoke a violent response, then we can’t speak freely or deal with sensitive topics.

Imagine if the comedians joke comes true. Boy will this story age like fine wine.

I don't feel my grasp on social nuance is good enough to comment on that aspect. I do think the original comment wasn't intended to be funny per se and some people are missing that. What I do feel qualified to say, though, is that if you're going to poke something, you better know how dangerous it can be and how it's likely to react before you poke it, and know if you're prepared and willing to take the likely damage. (It's the same risk assessment every soft can-opener goes through when the lord/lady of the house asks for belly rubs...)

People are so hung up on this that it seems the child is being forgotten when it comes to the consequences of both men's actions. The internet is forever, and that "joke" is going to follow him for the rest of his life, especially with trolls and this holy grail of bullying material.

If the comedian had just written that there is no way that the father can keep his kid from growing up gay, and left it at that, I would be totally on the side of the comedian. But I'm sorry, saying "when he grows up" and then describing an explicit sexual act is no less creepy that the creeptoids who "count down" until a female star is of legal age.

I don't understand what the father's political views have to do with it. The article seems to imply the father is mad that the comedian called his son gay, but we don't know that at all. The rest of the comment was a lot more obscene. This type of "reporting" annoys me, the author is just feeding into stereotypes and clearly trying to pigeonhole the father into a certain "type" of person
