“Jellyfish” Glass Tables With Dripping Tentacles That Look Like They’ve Been Created By The Sea
If you think glasswork involves nothing more than everyday household wares, think again. Italian artisan Daniela Forti uses a unique process to create stunningly surreal and unique works of translucent art, and they might remind you of a familiar sea creature.
Though Forti hails from Rome, she claims fame from her mastery of long-refined Tuscan tradition. The 57-year-old has been living and working among the rolling hills of Chainti since 1982, and she’s upholding her hard-earned reputation as a master of vetreria with her latest collection, appropriately dubbed Meduse – the Italian name for jellyfish. She produces these breathtaking sculptures through glass fusion – a technique which involves strategically melting down already-solid pieces of glass until they meld and weave together, forming new and beautiful shapes. In the case of Meduse, gravity is the instrument that helps Forti fashion the realistic ‘tentacles’ they possess.
See the sublime creations for yourself below, and if you’re lucky enough to be passing through Tuscany, you can visit Daniela Forti’s permanent exhibition of glass jewelry at the Palazzo Tucci Hotel in Lucca.

Share on FacebookLooks cool but unless it's a flat top like the 1st one, you won't be able to put anything on it? Also looks like a pain to clean :P
It's beautiful. But wouldn't last ten minutes in my house with my children haha.
These are tables I definitely don't want to stub my toe on in the dark ! Imagine it shattering as you writhe in the agony of a stubbed toe!
This has nothing to with anything, but I llove your profile picture :)
Load More Replies...As a bowl for fruits etc yes, as a table? No. Seeing the shape if it, I don't think anything could stand on it, especially a drink. Looks: +10, proactical use: -10 :D They are very beautiful though and I praise imagination of the author :)
:-D They are useful as a beautiful sunset: they make it feel good ....

I can't believe there are so many negative comments. This is gorgeous art that takes talent , creativity and imagination. Just because an editor labeled them as "tables" doesn't mean they are. If you want a table go to a furniture store. You can appreciate this beautiful art without such critical remarks.
Should we call them fruit bowls or something else? Because they're not tables
Just a few shots from the top view would have been nice. too weak for table and looks like a terrible dust collector. Think it would handle a dishwasher? J/K
I hope hino these are totally beautiful, however, how could you use it as a table? Maybe a candle in the middle?!
Gorgeous. Scale???? Anybody know??? Is it the size of a peanut or an almond tree.
Breath-taking and I bet extremely fragile! What a talent to be blessed with.
I would have to think twice about inviting certain people over if I had one of these in my home. Beautiful art pieces
Oh my gosh it's beautiful! It looks like magic! As a unicorn I enjoy magic so this is just amazing! 😄
Wow these look very nice! But I'd be too afraid to get one... Clumsy as I am I would smash them instantly...
These are not "tables." Have you been to her website? http://www.danielaforti.it/english/Jellyfish.htm Most are 7" - 11" tall! They might SIT on a table. Geez....
I do understand the depths of skill it takes to make them, but from an aesthetic point of view they are horrendous. Would never have them anywhere close to my home.
