Woman Takes A Starving Pit Bull Under Her Wing After It Had Been Found Locked Up In An Abandoned House With A Broken Leg And No Food
Interview With OwnerIf you don’t believe in destiny, then how would you explain this fact: a dog was locked up inside an abandoned house and destined for doom, with a broken leg and no food. Surely there was no way it would survive, right? Well, the chances were low, at least. On another side of things, Jami’s brother was just randomly looking to clean out an old house in Carbon County, PA, and found Remi inside a locked room in dire straits. The brother told Jami, and she knew she had to take a look at the dog. Once she’d seen her and the poor pit bull started wagging her tail, destiny joined their fates, and nothing has ever been the same.

“My brother was doing a house cleanout in Carbon County & told me she was there… I told him to grab her for me. As soon as I saw her, her tail started going.
She had no food or water. She was locked in an attic.”

One of Remi’s legs was previously broken too, and they’ll have to get an expensive treatment

“We took her to the vet, got all the shots up to date, and got her leg checked on; she wouldn’t walk up or down the stairs when she got here. She has a previously broken leg. It healed. So we are going to be getting that fixed. It is just not the right time at this moment. So I am waiting on it right now. She does walk on the leg & functions with no problems. She jumps on her back legs as well.”
Jami was looking for someone to adopt her, but decided to take the poor pit under her wing

“We were going to get her all better then find her a home… but we couldn’t get rid of her; she’s part of our family now.”
Looking at these puppy eyes, who would resist her?

At her new home, she has another pit bull to keep her company

“She was scared. She still doesn’t like being left alone. We have had her for almost a month now, and she cries if she’s alone. She now has my other pit to keep her company. But she doesn’t like being in a place alone; she does well in her crate, though.”

Because of the suffered trauma, Remi doesn’t like being left all to herself

Despite her grievous injuries, the pit bull is getting treatment and recovering fast

Jami started a gofundme to cover the medical costs. Not long after, people showered Remi with gifts

The good news is that they’ve reached their donation goal

All in all, it seems that destiny brought Jami and Remi together, and nothing could break them apart

When asked about how’s Remi, Jami said that “she’s great! Gaining lots of weight, and she has a loving life.”

Don’t forget the BROKEN LEG that never got treated. The whole f****d up situation just makes my blood boil.
Load More Replies...Thats so sweet! people treat pits so awfly because of what we make them do- and I'm glad she decided to give her a home <3
I wonder if the police couldn't have found out the name of the previous tenant and gone and put him in jail with no food or water? I hope there's a special place in hell for people who mistreat animals.
You are an amazing person. God bless you and all those that helped this sweet baby. I hope karma catches up with the scumbags who did this.
What a lucky little doggie. I love the socks. Some humans are just scum. Thank God there are some good people left in the world.
These dogs are such sweet hearts. The amazing thing about Pitties is how much they can love. They can be put through horrible things you can't imagine, and with the right amount of time and care they will trust in people again and love you with all they have.
That is how I found my first cat. Was fostering a friends son for a few months, went to her house to get his clothes etc. No one was there (she was away for at least a month), but there is a cat in the kitchen. I used to bring food in my pocket every visit for this cat. He was locked in, no water or food, all the dirty dishes licked clean. He took off when I opened the door. However we had bonded because I would sneak him food, so I called for him, and he came to me! So he went in the car and I stopped at tje shop to get cat supplies, and he lived with me the rest of his life. I'm just glad I went to the house that day, I was planning to leave it for another day but just had the urge to go. Thank goodness
She's such a cute dog, and it's really good that she got rescued, but Are they sure she's a pitbull? She looks so much like our staffy, especially the head shape
What a beautiful Pittie! I was just gifted a chocolate male Pittie pup today. Niece in law was the breeder, this little guy was returned for nipping a little kid...he's a puppy for f***s sake, they nip! Anyhow, I was wanting a blue female, but obviously this is the one I'm meant to have!
Some people are really s**t and deserve nothing but pain and suffering, we also have the angels like Jami, who will give this dog the life it deserves. I hope the previous owner/s die in a house fire, slowly.
why do people tie dogs inside of houses? I just don't get it...why would you let a living creature starve to death?
Let's hope they are able to track down the jerks who left the animal there to die. A forced generous donation to cover for all the costs wouldn't be out of place.
