Owner Hasn’t Cleaned This Goldfish’s Aquarium For 1,5 Years, So This Hero Decided To Do Something About It
This is a story about a goldfish who was completely neglected – but had a spirit of a fighter to survive. “Was given a fishy tank by my 16 year old niece, a goldfish won at the state fair 1.5 years ago that she never really wanted…and just kept living. He is a champion, really,” writes one Imgur user.
“His tank made me so sad no filtration, just aeration, the water was dense, but my little fishy was just chillen.” The woman refilled the tank to the top and set off to the pet shop to get a new aquarium.
“So according to the aquarium dude, taking the fish from bad water to fresh quick is how you get a dead fishy. Which is fine cuz my aim was to spoil, and I needed time to slowly buy supplies.” The woman started slowly changing out the goldfish’s water, and after 2 weeks, the fish was fully upgraded to a cleaner existence.
Today the fish gets to enjoy a brand new aquarium and his days of struggle and abandonment are left behind. “My fishy in his new home, I love him… Been 2 days and no signs of the transition bothering him, soon he will get some fish buddies to hang with. The end.”

Load More Replies...Adding new fish can be dangerous to a fish left alone that long. It could either stress out and die, or it might be incredibly territorial and kill the other fish. I had a goldfish by itself for 5 years. Finally convinced my parents to upgrade the tank and get another one.. it killed it the new fish in less than a week. It then lived by itself for another 4 years. My current adult life setup in my own place is a 40 gallon planted tank with dual aeration, and two canister filters, with a happy pair of Ryukin.
Crazy how tiny he still is. That's the size mine was after a couple of months. I've had Arthur for 1.5 years now and he's in huge. He's had 3 tanks, and 2 filters. He now has a pump too (and his favourite jar) in his 2.5ft fish tank <3
He will start getting larger now, fish grow to fit their environment. He's in a bigger tank and if she doesn't fill it with fish he will grow.

Yikes! I hope she doesn't get kids or any other pets in the future.

The goldfish was left in a cup? That's awful! You are such a hero for saving him

I once had a goldfish (who I simply referred to as "Wee Fish") & he was one of my only companions. I've been physically disabled for 10 years & I used to wheel my chair into the kitchen & "chat" to him, when I was left alone at home (though never for long, because of my disabilities). My mum was the one who cleaned out his fish-bowl, but I feel like my goldfish & I had a connection. Whenever I felt gloomy, he would either sit on the stones in his bowl or float to the top almost like he was playing dead. When I was cheery & came into the kitchen, he'd zoom to the front of his bowl, staring in my general direction. He didn't even mind me handling him once in a while (but always gently). Because of this, my older sister said we were like "E.T. & Elliott"! LOL. He eventually got very ill & we had to put him to sleep (& I later had him buried in our back garden). I still think of him sometimes, though... 😢💔🐠
HOW can this person NOT know how to write 1.5 properly??? Or if it is THAT difficult, just write it out, one and a half. *sigh*
