Not everyone’s memory is the same. Some people can simply know that they have a doctor’s appointment three weeks from now at 1 p.m., and they’ll magically remember it on the day of. Others, however, might instantly forget what time their appointment is as soon as they hang up the phone after scheduling it.
There’s nothing wrong with being forgetful, but it is something you have to know about yourself. Otherwise, you’re going to set yourself up for a lifetime of mishaps and embarrassment. And if you happen to be someone who would forget their own birthday without a reminder, we’ve got a list below that you might find painfully relatable. Bored Panda has compiled some of the funniest posts from people whose memories failed them at the most crucial moments. Enjoy scrolling through, and be sure to upvote the mistakes that you definitely could have made yourself!

Daughter Left The Garden Hose Running Outside All Night And It Managed To Flood My Basement
Many years ago now, I went to bed early one night, and I could hear water running. This was not unusual, because my bedroom shared a wall with the kitchen, but it went on for maybe fifteen minutes straight. That was unusual. I went and told my parents about it, and the first thing they said was that I must be imagining it. It wasn't audible in the kitchen, or the bathroom, or the upstairs bathroom. I got my dad to come back to my room, but he said he heard nothing. Finally I said to him, is there really nothing in this house that could have water running? Because I definitely hear it. For the hell of it, he went downstairs to check the washing machine, and the last person to use it hadn't turned the water shutoff valve after running the last load earlier that day. I got several apologies, and a promise to always believe me when I said there was water running, even if no one else heard it.

You can do great ice lanterns a bit like this btw. You put water in a bucket outside and wait until it's frozen on the edges, but not yet in the middle. Carve the top off to empty the water to make a cavern on the inside. Put on a candle or a small lantern and put the ice cover on top. For best results in clarity, try carefully melting the outermost layer a bit.

Also visually checking everything by "pointing and saying" helps a lot. Google "shisa kanko" for details. I started using the method a couple of years ago when I began inadvertently doing stupid stuff. It works splendidly for me.
