Labradors and Golden Retrievers are the most popular dogs in so many countries across the world, and it’s easy to see why. They are loads of fun, people-oriented, obedient yet curious and have a sharp intelligence that still shines through beneath their hilariously goofy nature.
Originating in Newfoundland, where they were first bred to help fishermen and hunters retrieve their nets and catch, Labradors are now commonly used as guide dogs and comfort animals for the disabled. Golden Retrievers are very similar to Labs, with slight differences between British, American, and Canadian types. They are all high-energy dogs, so they need plenty of exercise! They do love a cuddle as well though, and are always eager to please their humans. That's why we love them so much!

We have the same lifejacket for our standard poodle. When he had tail surgery, he wouldn't leave the wound alone, no matter how big of a collar he had. At wits' end, we put on his Outwardbound Life Jacket and it was just enough to limit his flexibility so that he couldn't get at his wound. So, in fact, it did save his life, just not in the water!

This is actually a life jacket. Terrific invention for dogs. I use a harness on my Lucy with the hook in the center of the back sort of how this handle is located. From the moment I put that on her she loved it and never pulled once. I feel ANY attachment involving the neck is 100% wrong. How would YOU like something around your throat all the time. Just because its always been around doesn't make it right. I tried the halti around her nose, she never hated anything so badly in her life. We would spend the entire walk with her trying to get it off. She never would adjust to it. Put the body harness on her, instant perfectly walking. They know what is right. If you're going to be putting your young pup in water, this is a must.

You wouldn't realize by the much higher % of Golden retriever photos that Labs are by far the more popular breed.
