22 Funny, Straightforward Signs About The Coronavirus Situation Put Up By Shops And Restaurants
Some businesses might have reopened but the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread throughout the world. Naturally, some shop owners want to protect themselves, their employees, and their customers, so they put up signs asking clients to come in through the door wearing face masks. Easy, right? Nope!
Unfortunately, some customers see wearing a mask as a political issue and refuse to put one on. This increases the risk of Covid-19 spreading, so stores have had to get… creative with their signs. Bored Panda has collected some of the wittiest, funniest, and most blunt ‘wear a mask’ signs that shops and restaurants have put up. Bored Panda spoke to Sarah Bingham, one of the co-owners of the vintage clothing shop Antique Sugar, whose hard-hitting and dark sign made a huge splash on the web. She told us all about how she feels about getting so much attention, about the anti-maskers who are sending her hate mail, and whether or not she thinks she’s changed anyone’s mind about putting on a mask.

Sarah, who has co-owned Antique Sugar with her friend Annamarie Sanchez for the past 10 years, told Bored Panda that she never imagined that the sign she came up with would blow up the way that it did.
She said she expected only the people who come into the shop to see it. However, she posted a photo of the sign on her personal Facebook page where she asked people if they thought it was too dark. “It was immediately shared several times, and from there someone posted it on Reddit and it took off.”

@Monika, I don't really understand the relevance of that comment here. But I know the feeling you talk of, I wasn't around when my dad passed away (6 years ago, so pre corona) the guilt haunts you for the rest of your life. A feeling I wouldn't wish on anybody. The Medical Health Officer in B.C. originated this one in her press conferences I think.
Sarah confirmed that they’ve been getting lots of hate mail. “From what I’ve seen in some of the hate mail we’ve been receiving, the most vehement anti-maskers seem to be far-right politically. They seem to have the ‘don’t tread on me’ mindset. They really don’t want to be told what to do by me, or scientists, or the government, or the media. Which is fine, but in the same sentence, they threaten to report us for violating the ADA.”
She revealed that in her opinion, she doubts that she changed the mind of anyone who had a solid opinion about mask-wearing before she posted the sign. “But I also haven’t had any non-mask-wearing people in the shop since it went up. So I’m declaring my personal battle a victory.”

You know, I struggle with this a bit. I'm autistic (high functioning), and it's very hard to think of more than one thing at a time. If I'm discombobulated in any way (like in a new place), I think about it being new, and immediately forget about maintaining distance. (I always wear a mask.) This is NO excuse. I have learned to sit in the car and "program" my mind so that it remains stuck there regardless of circumstances. It's been a struggle. I'm already always thinking about everything I do and say so as not to say anything tactless or weird. I'm 52, so adding these new rules onto basic interactions in stores and places requires some "re-programming" with much effort. Because of this, I try to only go out every 2 weeks even now. I self quarantine basically every 2 weeks.

I truly wish "politically correct" HAD passed- but it hasn't. We are still constantly bombarded by ridiculous made up b******t. However - NOT wearing a mask is not one of these- WEAR THE DAMNED MASK!! Nah, that band knew they were going to die, they accepted their faith and decided to provide for some relieve. Corona gets to you by killing your family, while your government gives you no choice other than to do your job and stay in the line of fire while your fellow citizens don't appreciate your job at all.

I'm also getting progressively more disturbed that is a slur against specifically white woman. I've worked in customer service and child care for most of my life and I can tell you while there are no storage of Karens that are white women, most verbal abuse I get comes from men. I also get people playing the minority card and sexual orientation card now. Sorry you can't get the child price. It's not be cause you are a black trans person, it's because you are 35.

This is becoming a problem. Mostly I think it makes actual racism sound less serious than it is. In addition, I have actually had people assume that I'm a racist, simply because my name is Karen. I understand that that is not the norm, but there are people out there that can't differentiate. Look at the poor kid that played Joffrey in Game of Thrones. He gave up acting because he got so much backlash.

I think the country is overdue for a refresher course on how to correctly wear their masks. I went grocery shopping today, and about half the customers and three quarters of the store employees were wearing their masks below their noses!! A couple had them over their noses but above their mouths, ffs. Basically rendering the masks useless. Yeah, it was Walmart—-and one in the rural red stain on an otherwise blue state. (FYI: I was wearing a mask—-correctly—-and disposable gloves, to boot.)

I see soooo many people like this! Like, sure, wearing a mask sucks, but so does dying! I work in healthcare and had to mask and gown up for different precautions before CoVid, it has always sucked, but has always needed to be done. To protect us from patients with contagious diseases, and to protect patients with compromised immune systems FROM us.

In the shop where I work I have to ASK the people to keep there masks on when speaking to a sales person. They honestly think they need the mask only to enter the shop. They don't have to keep it on when in the shop. YEs that is the level of stupidity we have to deal with. Or if they do not have a mask on, they stand at the door and shout what they need. WTF people??? If I ask them to please put a mask on and then enter the store, I am the one with an attitude. HAHAHAHAHA

I really don't understand why people have to make a big stink about wearing mask. It's such a simple thing to do. I can LITERALLY save lives. But...as we've all seen throughout the years, people love to do the exact opposite of what they're supposed to do.

I feel blessed that don't have to wear a mask here in Holland. But the six feet / 1,5M distance is hard to keep for many people. I fear that we will get a 2nd wave:-(

Wearing a mask is a key component of keeping the cases low. You wear a mask, you stop the airborne particles that could be full of virus from landing on the people you are talking to. They wear a mask, it protects you. If everybody wears a mask, there is a 70% (or greater) chance that the virus will not transfer with enough viral load to make someone sick.

These are funny, but unfortunately the "freedom fighters" who refuse to comply are making it very difficult for those who legitimately can't wear masks for medical or sensory reasons. I always keep that in mind. Usually, you can tell who is being a punk and who just can't wear a mask. One guy had a sign around his neck 'explaining!'
