Idiot Films Costco Employee Kicking Him Out For Not Wearing A Mask, People Are On The Employee’s Side

The Centers for Disease Control And Prevention recommends that people wear a face covering to slow the spread of the virus and protect others. That’s right, not wearing a mask puts the health of others at risk. But it seems the same rules don’t apply to everyone.

At least that’s what one shopper at Costco in Arvada, Colorado was thinking. The guy refused to wear a mask while shopping because, apparently, he “woke up in a free country.” But one Costco worker, Tison, wasn’t buying any of this BS and confronted him in a now viral video. The shopper was hoping to put Tison on his “3,000-follower Instagram feed,” but the clip soon turned against his plans. People on Twitter not only praised Tison for a good job, they also demanded to give him a raise.

Let’s take a look at this how-to for handling entitled shoppers who refuse to wear masks right down below and remember to stay safe, everyone!

This video of a Costco employee Tison dealing with a shopper who refused to wear a mask has gone viral

The shopper recorded this whole confrontation and here are the screenshots from it

Costco’s CEO announced in a statement about the mask policy on the company’s website: “We know some members may find [wearing face coverings] inconvenient or objectionable, but under the circumstances, we believe the added safety is worth any inconvenience. This is not simply a matter of personal choice; a face covering protects not just the wearer, but others too.”

The shopper soon uploaded another video where he explained his standpoint further

Meanwhile, experts have expressed their worry that the tension between customers and employees may get worse as stores across the country reopen and many have to adapt to a new set of shopping rules.

Larry Barton, a professor of crisis management and public safety at the University of Central Florida, told Business Insider that “In 30-plus years of studying retail and crisis situations, we have never seen a situation of customers being so rude to hourly employees.”

Larry has given a piece of advice for retailers to train employees on deescalating hostile persons these days.

Tison was over the moon from receiving so much support on Twitter

Exactly! The problem with many (especially right-wing) people in the US is that they misunderstand the concept of freedom.

He's mistaken. It's nothing to do with his own views. If you wish to utilise the services of a company (any company) that company will have policies and that is part of the interaction between you. As in any other case, you are free to go elsewhere

The mask is to protect others from you, in case you have the virus but not the symptoms. Good on the employee for serving the public good.

Privately Owned businesses can implement whatever policies they want. These are the same people who think that because they own a home they can do whatever they want with it. But in reality by their mentality, I can walk into their home and do whatever I want, because I woke up in a "free country". No, sir... you woke up in a country with limitations... and abiding by the rules of the owner is part of that. If Costco requires me to wear a mumu I will go out and buy one before stepping foot into their store; because those are their rules.

No mask. No shirt. No shoes. No service. :) We do have freedom in America but we also have rules and laws. If you don't like the rules or laws, get lost, get fined or go to jail. This isn't a 100% free country. If it were I'd drive 80 on the 65mph overpass so I wasn't late to work. I drive the speed limit because it protects myself and others. It's called a fricking law in my state. Sometimes we have to be little sheep and follow the rules because that's how s**t works! Otherwise, our country would be chaos. Selfish people like that guy really annoy me.

A privately owned company has the right to set any rules it wants. You have the right to decide not to shop there because of your not agreeing with rule. Would you show up at work buck naked because you aren't like those in sheep's clothing? Ewe follow your flock, believing ewe are entitled to what others sacrificed and fought for and allows ewe more rights at birth than many wont have by the time they die. Ewe and all that pompous arrogance ewe swagger around the barnyard with is laughable. My little lamb, just being dumped out as 30 some years later ewe are bleating "you're an American" may be technically correct. But it don't mean s**t if ewe do nothing your whole life to make it mean something. So take that.pompous arrogance and get the flock out of here. See how ewe feel when one of those sheep breaks from the herd and throws rules out the window. drives ewer car right out of the barn. Let freedom ring.

No you're not a sheep, your an inconsiderate and not particularly knowledgeable jerk. Plus, even before Covid 19 restaurants had the right to refuse service for any reason and companies could fire you without your having to do something wrong. If the company rule is that you must where a mask on their premises and you don't like it, don't go there. These days that would likely mean shopping online.

The thing that I had learned after many years of working in a mall is that people believe that if the public can go somewhere, it is a public place. It is super not true. Stores and malls are owned by businesses and/or a person. They get to decide the rules. Do they think the state decides the time that businesses open?! As a membership club, Costco has more control over their shoppers than most stores -- Costco can legally require you to stop for shopping cart inspection as a term of membership, non-membership stores can't -- no matter what the Walmart greeter may so, you don't have to stop to let them check your cart.

living in a FREE COUNTRY means Costco has the freedom to require its club members to do whatever it wants them to do. If Costco requires all members to wear dinosaur suits, they could. The FREE COUNTRY part is that you can go shop at another store. Entitled Americans thinking the Bill of Rights makes us invincible when it is the most convenient for us. Making us all look bad, bro!

Let us distinguish the difference between freedom and selfishness. Freedom Is a privilege which comes after taking responsibilities. Selfishness ignores one’s own ignorance. Freedom never means something granted automatically that one can do whatever and however one pleases. Rather it should be something we earn. Does anyone agree?

It's not about control. This idiot just wants to make it something else. Just because we have freedoms in America doesn't mean we use them irresponsibly. In situations like now with covid 19 we all have to work together. He said everyone else is wearing masks so he doesn't have to because he or they won't get infected. It's about doing your part otherwise others will start doing it and then half of the people won't wear masks. Stores have a right to refuse service to people. It's a private company and they don't need to put up with your BS.

Refusing to wear a mask when in public is not just about "control." It is about protecting other people. Unfortunately, these bozos who refuse to wear a mask don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. They ignore science -- or they simply do not understand science; they refuse responsibility and they refuse to recognize the rights of others. At the same time, they demand respect for their rights -- or what they say are their rights; they demand that others take responsibility and they demand accommodation of their stupidity.

If this guy can only assert his masculinity by now wearing a mask, I feel sorry for him. He is probably married or dating a shrew who manipulates him constantly, so he takes out his frustration on strangers who are only doing their jobs. We have many restrictions on normal everyday life -- what to wear and how to act -- why are they not an infringement on "Personal freedom"? I do not want to see people suffer from this pandemic, but if someone HAS to get sick, I hope it's guys like this who endanger others through their selfishness. COVID-19 is a terrible thing. The science, according to the CDC, says that surgical masks won’t stop the wearer from inhaling small airborne particles, which can cause infection. Nor do these masks form a snug seal around the face. The CDC recommends surgical masks only for people who already show symptoms of coronavirus and must go outside, since wearing a mask can help prevent spreading the virus by protecting others nearby when you cough or sneeze. The agency also recommends these masks for caregivers of people infected with the virus.

Masks are a form of public humiliation and control. There are many studies explaining why masks are damaging to you (incorrect usage, breathing in excess CO2, damp and humid mask increasing bacteria). Wake up people and stop relying on the MSM to Tell you what to do and read studies and listen to actual doctors (that aren't being paid to spout the party line)

Regardless of your point of view, a company has the right to refuse service to customers (even members) who do not follow their policies, e.g. wearing a shirt and shoes in a restaurant. In case of COVID-19 and other highly contagious airborne diseases, masks are necessary to stop the spread... it is up to people wearing the masks to figure out how to wear them correctly. That is where they can exercise control.

And I am not going to apologize for swearing. Because clearly the only language some people understand is of the harsh and shocking kind. I cannot wrap my head around so much stupidity.

Plus, even before Covid 19 restaurants had the right to refuse service for any reason and companies could fire you without your having to do something wrong. As a membership club, Costco has more control over their shoppers than most stores -- Costco can legally require you to stop for shopping cart inspection as a term of membership, non-membership stores can't -- no matter what the Walmart greeter may so, you don't have to stop to let them check your cart.

In situations like now with covid 19 we all have to work together. He said everyone else is wearing masks so he doesn't have to because he or they won't get infected. It's about doing your part otherwise others will start doing it and then half of the people won't wear masks. Stores have a right to refuse service to people. It isn't really about rights, it's about another person's life in the end. This Big Bully thought Tison was going to Buckle because of his size and MOUTH, but WRONG! Tison really was a HERO and Stood Fast for Others having their right to a Virus Free Shopping Experience and Life . I totally agree with Troufaki13 that another person's freedom stops where another person's freedom ends. It is not all about us, but about the other person as well. Let's be Kind to Other's, Brut force could end up hurting someone's family or friends with this filthiness. Skip the Freedom Thing, this guy is portrayed as he really is, a Horses Bewack !

That doesn't make a sense, shouldn't it read: The person's freedom stops where another person's freedom starts?

I can and do wear a mask but only for short periods as I sruggle to breath through them so I stay at home as much as I can but if I have to go anywhere I wear a mask unless there is absolutely no one around. I hate my walls right now. Since March I've been out 3 times

This is the same as "no shirt, no shoes, no service" - actually this one is in place to protect everyone - but, as mentioned in many of the comments, a business has the right to set policy. Think of all the elite eateries that require jackets.

Masks, gloves and hand washing can't protect us from every COVID 19 microorganisms. The idea is, that if a person gets exposed to only a tiny bit at a time, they build up immunity hit by bot.

These people are absolute idiots. They refuse scientific evidence. They ignore social responsibility and they ignore any sense of accommodation for those at risk. Yet they demand respect for their self-proclaimed rights; demand accommodation of their desires and demand acknowledgement that they, and they alone, have rights. What utter idiots!

You feel as if you want to die. I am very high risk and appreciate the efforts of those who try to protect me. Shame on this rude, selfish customer. Glad he's out in Colorado and not here in New jersey.

Problem is these masks only block particulates. They cannot block a virus. Sealed gas masks that cover your face, eyes included are the only way to block a virus. This idiocy of wearing dust blocking masks for a virus must end!! Geeze!!

This CCPvirus is a big scam, the virus exists like flu, cold, Pneumonia, etc. this garbage is about TOTAL CONTROL like Germany 1939 controlling the Jews, when we get to see at least 50 Lib politicians in congress drop dead because of the virus we will believe is an act of God; also Big Pharma, Big Corporation & Super Rich Fat Cats are exempted of this virus but, the poor, the old and the unwanted are the victims of this CCPvirus SCAM. COSTCO Must close their stores until the virus is over.

Those masks do NOTHING. The virus particles are smaller than the holes in the mask.

There is no reason for people who are not infected to wear masks. Masks are to be worn by the people who are sick to keep from spreading and infecting others. Don't listen to the msm. They have an agenda to follow.

Dawn, people can be infected and have no symptoms, therefore not knowing they carry the virus; this is why everybody should wear a mask. What agenda are you following?

We were told not to worry about masks back in February and March. Now we’re selfish if we don’t wear one. Which is it? Why was Fauci wrong back then? It literally changes everyday and people are tired of it. I still wear a mask. But I get the frustration.

Really, a hero? Not even by a long shot! He told a shopper to wear a mask. So what! If you think he is a HERO, then your definition of a hero is very sad. If you think he is a hero, then you might even think that all children should pass and never fail even if they don't work for it. Give me a break!

Costco is late for the bus on this one. The virus is winding down, businesses are starting to open up under moderated and controlled conditions, and NOW, after 2+ months of the virus, you ask customers to wear masks. Sheesh.
