Schools From Hell: 50 Annoying Things School Students Are Still Dealing With In The Big 25

Believe it or not lunch at 10:30am is a thing. Due to things like large student bodies, small lunchrooms, etc many schools have multiple lunch periods. I worked at a school that had 3 lunch periods and the grade I taught went for lunch at 10:45.

Now I agree there are some truly wonderful admin and schools. But in the states school funding is given to the school and there is some of it that can only be spent on certain budgets. But when it comes to staff the admin are in charge of hiring. I worked at a school system that had no reading interventionist for our middle school because the principal never got around to it then later claimed there wasn't a need for one. We had four kids reading at a third grade level in the grade I was teaching. Then at another school we had some students that didn't speak English and we needed a staff member to support them. The school admin kept dragging their feet until someone reported the school to the state education board.

Hey Pandas, What's A "Secret" From Your Profession That Everyone Should Probably Know?

Generally speaking school admin don't care about your kid and will do anything to help their bottom line. Eve if it means cutting programs and resources kids need. Teachers are constantly fighting to get your kids help and are often ignored. We have been told sorry can't get enough money for a reading interventionist. But they can find money to give themselves raises.

22 "Plus-Size Travel Struggles" Skinny People Don't Have To Worry About When Traveling

Downvote me into oblivion, but I will die on this hill: most of the time, obesity isn't a disability in the same way that cerebral palsy is. Or being paralyzed, needing a wheelchair due to spinal/brain damage, only having one leg (or none), birth defects, having had a stroke or injury that results in brain damage, being blind, etc. Many of my family members are morbidly obese, and none were born that way. All of them became obese due to over-eating. While it's not always their FAULT that they became addicted to food, it's their responsibility to lose weight. It is not the world's responsibility to make everything accommodating for obese people. I've struggled with drug addiction, so I KNOW what addiction is like and how hard it is to change and get healthy. But saying it's a "disability" that you can't help or change is absolutely untrue. (Final disclaimer: yes, there are medical conditions that cause obesity without massive caloric intake. Most obese people are not obese due to that.)
