Woman Surprised To See Her Manicurist Shopping After She Said She’s Fully Booked, Confronts Her And Gets Roasted

The fact that you’re willing to pay a person for their services doesn’t give you full control over their lives. After all, it is a transaction. Both parties have to agree on its terms. And while this sounds like basic logic to most of us, some people simply don’t get it. Like this choosing beggar. After spotting their manicurist at a grocery store after hours, they got furious because… the nail technician chose family instead of making an appointment.

Image credits: Simon O’Neill (not the actual photo)

Posted on the r/ChoosingBeggars subreddit, this exchange has accumulated nearly 40k upvotes in less than a day. I guess, people know a good comeback when they see it. Even if it’s a bit harsh.

Whether deserved or not, highly entitled people are known to be less concerned about what is socially acceptable or beneficial. Researchers at Harvard and Cornell whose studies of 99 undergraduates and 98 MBA candidates yielded another interesting finding: Entitled people don’t follow instructions, because they see them as unfair. “They would rather take a loss themselves than agree to something unfair,” said the authors.

“When people feel entitled, they want to be different from others,” Jane Adams Ph.D. wrote for Psychology Today. “But just as frequently they come across as indifferent to others. That’s why they often provoke such negative responses in those they encounter, especially those they don’t personally know.”

Here’s what people said about this situation

Why do I feel like the Choosing Beggar is speaking in incomplete sentences? I can't seem to follow her text. I hope it's not just me. Not trying to be mean, just trying to decipher her words.

I love this because now I see that it's not just me (Photographer) that this happens to all the time. I have clients that message me all times of the night and seem annoyed when I don't message them right back at midnight when I am up at 4am. It's like, sorry people I have a regular FT job, go to the gym, a family, and daily responsibilities as well as my photography work, so no your photos will not be ready the day after I shoot them.

Yeah, happens to us architects as well. Clients call you Sunday at 11PM with "ideas" for their project... and then expect you to have integrated them into the plans by Monday morning. And the worst are always corporate clients. I've had some ask me to spend 5 hours of each day meeting with them to show them what I had done from the previous day and when I tried to explain that wouldn't leave me time for work, they went "you still have nights, don't you?". Needles to say, I eventually dropped that project, and even though, as I was leaving, they screamed at me about how they're going to find a better, more "professional" architect than me to realise their vision, they still haven't built anything, even though it's been 10 years...

No one should have to work 6 days a week, whole day at the time. We all should have a life outside of work. When someone says that they are "fully booked" it does not mean, and it should never mean, they are booked 24 hours a day. It means, they have it all booked during work hours. After that, they are free to have their own life.

Yes! I was just at our local supermarket and they have new uniforms. I hated the old one because the T-shirt had an acronym, with "N" being "Never say No." I told them this was a terrible message for a company to give their workers - they need to know they can say No and management has got their back!

I know a teacher who took a sick day, because his young son was ill. After taking his sons to the doctor, he went through the drive-through to get food for everyone. Not the healthiest choice, but everybody was tired and cranky. The school principal saw him in the drive-through. The next day, the principal calls the teacher in, accuses him of faking an illness just to have a day off. The teacher points out that in their contract, they are not required to provide proof for a sick day. They have a limited number of sick days. When they're used up, no more paid sick days. Teachers frequently use sick days to tend to their children. The principal demanded to know why they were out at a drive-through, if his son was really sick. Another proof that just because you're in management doesn't mean you have good people skills, or commonsense.

Even if you ARE sick, just because you can drive into the drive thru it doesn't mean you're well enough to teach 20 kids. You can get food and go home to rest. To employees if you're not in the ICU on life support, you ought to be working

Unfortunately, people like that exist. My boss is one of them. He expects you to be available for him, for whatever thing comes to his mind... at ridiculous hours!! And when he sends an email at 10pm (or later), he gets mad because you don't reply until you're back at the office in the morning! (I work at a regular office, not a 24/7 job) I'll never understand why he thinks we have to be available for him everyday, every hour.

I've seen and heard too much of this, my husband is a firefighter, who worked 24 hours shifts. I was always amazed at how the public reacted to them being out in public, grocery shopping, showing up at community events etc. What the public does not realize, no matter what they are doing, they are still "live" which means if an alarm comes in they are responding, the amount of people that would b***h about them doing other things in public and then having the nerve to b***h about them leaving "in a hurry", was beyond ridiculous. They work 24 hours shifts, they do need to eat and sleep, at the grocery store, they tell the staff they are responding to an alarm and staff look after their cart until they come back, they leave their dinner table, kitchen and beds to respond to an alarm. Not sure about anyone else, but I wouldn't want the tired/hungry firefighters showing up if my family member is in cardiac arrest or my house is on fire! 1,000 entitled public complaints a week.

No matter what your job, if your work involves the general public, you are going to get people like these wonderful, entitled souls. They are the only ones who matter. They are the only ones who deserve special treatment. They are the ones who expect you to bow down in their presence and believe that you only exist to serve them.

The 24 hour economy leaves people to think that they can have everything at any time they want. "If my husband can order a pizza at 01.00 AM, why can't I have a manicure at 23.00 PM?"

Oh this makes sense actually. I was wondering why you see such entitled people most often in the US. Well, this explains it. Most other countries do not have a 24 hour economy. Our shops in Germany don't even open on Sundays.

The client was very rude! I would not want that kind of client back, she would have to find another nail tech. Also, I guess I'm going to be downvoted since the other comments about the same thing is getting downvoted, but I agree that the last comment from the nail tech was unnecessary. She could have just leave it there.

That way I figure a good hour for chats then and hour or so for me to get SOME work done. One 10am is off the books as I have a doctors appt, Monday is a (fake) holiday I am taking off. So this person gets all upset I can't do either of those times. *sigh*

GOOD FOR THE NAIL TECH! / / / / / I'm a freelance graphic designer, it's Saturday night, and I am working on a job for a client. As far as she knows, my hourly rate is 50% higher than I charge other clients, because she routinely emails a project on Friday and see results on Monday AM. / / / / / I saw her at a bakery one Monday morning and she "joked," "Hope you had a productive weekend." I smiled and asked if she checked her in-box yesterday. I didn't make chat, because I might have said something honest.

Why? Why "keep class" with a piece of s**t like this? I've learnt to treat people the way they treat me; when I get respect, I give respect. However, if somebody tries to belittle me, or is abusive or disrespectful, they'd better be able to run fast!
