Video Shows Cat Sprinting Over And Saving Baby Who Was About To Fall Down The Stairs
Pets are not just cute and fluffy creatures we keep to look nice around the house. They have the ability to become our companions, friends, and even healers. It’s true that our adorable pets can improve our well-being and health. But that’s not all of their abilities. From time to time, our pets become real-life heroes, too. Take for instance this pet cat who saved a toddler’s life!

People were left astonished after seeing a video of a cat saving a baby from falling down the stairs
Recently, a viral video emerged posted by DLore Álvarez showing something you don’t see very often. Taken by the security cam, the video captured a little baby playing on the ground near her crib. Right next to her, on the sofa, an adorable cat was observing the child’s every move.
And then the video shows the reason why no one should ever leave their little kids in an unsafe environment alone – the baby started crawling forward towards the open door which led to the staircase.
Luckily, the smart animal acted quickly and interrupted the child by playing with her. Whether intentional or not, it’s clear that if the cat wouldn’t have done that, the toddler would have tumbled down the stairs and sustained serious injuries.

People rushed to hail the cat as a hero and praise her for her good deed. However, while it’s always nice to see a happy ending in videos like this one, the parents of the child also received some harsh criticism.
Here’s how feline hero looks like!

Many people became angry at the parents for leaving the child unsupervised with an open door that leads to a flight of stairs. Despite being smart creatures, cats clearly aren’t suitable nannies for human babies.

Share on FacebookThink what you may about that particular video, but my mom told me, that when I was an infant and laid bare on the couch (mom was changing the bedding next to the couch and getting my clothes) I rolled so hard that I was about to fall to the floor. Our cat launched himself from the nearby armchair and pinned himself to the edge of the couch, so I leand on him. THAT was a rescue to me.
I do believe cats and dogs have a sense to protect their humans and this cat seemed to stay near the stairs until the unprotected child moved away but I do wonder why he felt the need to attack the unprotected child after moving away from said danger. Maybe he saw a piece of glass. We may never know.
Load More Replies...I couldn't pay attention to the cat because I was trying to figure out what was on the floor.
Load More Replies...I think the cat did save the baby. It went straight over to the baby and stopped the baby falling down the stairs. Next is wen back and engaged the baby in fun -well away from the stairs.
If you could read that cats mind: "Stupid human. crawling around like a dummy. Hey dummy you are heading for the stairs!. Hey! Oh My God! Oh my God Oh my God! Stupid human!"
We had a cat (RIP Mike❤) who literally saved my life. I was bleeding out at home due to a surgical mistake. My body was beginning to shut down & I was slipping in & out of consciousness. 911 said that I *needed* to stay awake. My husband had to go flag down the EMS & bring them to me, & Mike the cat was on the bed with me. Steve the husband told Mike "I have to go outside. You take care of Mommy until I come back with help." Steve left & I was trying SO hard to stay awake. I was on my back with my arms up near my head, palms facing up. As I was fighting to stay awake, Mike put his paw in my palm. Whenever my eyes would close a bit too long to be a blink, he'd press his claws into my palm just enough to make my eyes pop open; he continued doing that until Steve came back with help! A lot of people helped save my life that night; I'm very grateful for them. But Mike played a HUGE part in that. Thank you, little buddy. Mommy misses you like crazy.
To the people shaming the living conditions... get off your privileged backsides and try living in a third world country for a bit. This is the norm in most of the world.
The condition of having garbage parents, yes. Do not have kids if you can't or won't care for them.
Load More Replies...People who say that cats don't care about their owners, have never owned a cat. This cat *stood guard* at the top of the stairs until the baby moved away. Continually moving to be in between the baby and the stairs. She does pounce on the baby again later, but when you compare that to the way she *flew* into the baby when it got too close to the stairs, it's a different behaviour. The second pounce is much more playful compared to the near frantic behaviour of when the baby was too close to the steps. This cat absolutely saved the baby from falling down the stairs, and it was deliberate.
Absolutely, it’s clear to anyone with an open mind that the cat deliberately saved the baby. She was all over that baby, getting him away from the stairs. There’s an instant where she puts her paws out and pushes him away. The second pounce was brief and just for fun.
Load More Replies...Sell the security camera and buy a baby gate. And maybe a broom and mop.
To me, this behavior looks like the way our mom cats acts with her kittens when they get into places she doesn't like
Looks deliberate on the cat's part. Housecats form colonies in which the adults raise the kittens communally, so most cats keep an eye out for if kittens are going to wander into danger. And housecats who live with humans often consider the human kittens to follow the same rules. As far as the cat is concerned, when the parents left, they left it in charge of watching the kitten; it was its job to keep the human-kitten from falling down the stairs, so it did.
Beautiful cat. It is very lucky that the scenario played out that way. I agree with the people pointing out that the cat play-attacked the child when it went the other way as well. The bit the puzzles me is the security camera and yet no stair-gate? Besides the obvious 'don't leave your tiny child alone!!'
why are people like omg the cat attacked the baby omg it was trying to play with the baby NO the cat's intention was pretty clear in the video. Cats and dogs both carry the sense to protect their families just like humans. How else do you think the cat would have pushed a probably kinda heavy baby away from the stairs, without forcing it back and giving it a reason to double back by scratching it gently
The cat was just playing, he did the same when the kid crawled the other way. And why the hell do they live like that and WHY DO YOU LEAVE A KID ALONE WITH AN OPEN STAIRCASE?! Very irresponsible parents :(
Not really, you see how the cat stays by the stairs until after the baby leaves. And yes they are playful, but the first attack, lasted longer and although came from the back the cat situated himself in the front. Unlike the second time, where it just attack and move on.

That dog kept himself between the street and that child and every time she tried to go that way he would push her the other way with his head. So I grabbed my phone and walked up to her. The dog sat still and let me pick her up and move her to a safer location. And only then once I sat down next to her he smelled my hand I petted him and he ran off. I totally believe that dog would of done anything to protect that kid.
Sigh, I have to log in to comment this. Because those people who shamed the parents and their house. Shame on you for those who put their western privileged view to people out there. Don't you dare to shame them. You're just lucky because you weren't born in such environment. You could easily said to people to only procreate if they can afford your standard, because you didn't put your self on their shoes. I hope you will never have to go through poverty or bankruptcy in your life.
I knew it a Cats are responsible for child trafficking ! Yes , bad joke , just keeping people aware that there is an issue out there...
Why is that baby crawling on that dirty floor, near open staircase.. wtf
Cats are heroes - there is a reason why ancient Egyptians worshipped cats.
They could afford video surveillance equip but couldn’t afford to not live in a trash dumpster? WTF?
I know cats will protect humans, but I'm not 100% sure that is what happened here. Even after the baby moved completely away from the stairs, the cat then jumped on him and attack the baby's head. However, the way the cat got up as he saw the baby heading for the stairs does make it look like the cat was protecting the baby. I'm just not sure if we can know for sure in this case. I guess if the cat never attacked the baby any other time, then I'd be more sure.
I really doubt there weren't any child proof fence that would prevent the baby from falling.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was protecting the kid, dispite the fact the cat jumped on the kid after too. Cat was just frustrated with human baby, had to get his frustration out. lol
That was definitely deliberate! The cat knew the human kitten was going to tumble down the stairs so did what it could to protect him/her. Good kitty!!
That cat looks as though it is part Siamese. Meezers tend to be very smart - and caring.
Lies the door is different. The door in video is flat the pictured door has details why are people so gullible. Look at details probably door to bedroom not staircase.
I'm with the 'The cat is just playing' comment. Lucky coincidence, but not a heroic rescue. (Not that cats can't be heroes, though. Just check out that video where a cat rescues a child from a dog in ready-to-kill mode.)
If the claws had been out you'd have seen the baby bawling.
