“Only Took 30 Years To Speak Out”: Brian May’s Wife Breaks Silence On Freddie Mercury Lovechild Claims
Anita Dobson, the wife of Queen’s lead guitarist Brian May, has publicly refuted claims that the band’s late frontman, Freddie Mercury, sired a secret love child.
Her comments, published by a British outlet on June 26, come in response to revelations made in Love of My Life: The Life and Loves of Freddie Mercury—a biography by Lesley-Ann Jones, known for her numerous publications on the legendary Brit Rocker.
- A 48-year-old woman named only as “B” claims Mercury was her father and left her 17 personal diaries.
- Brian May’s wife dismissed the claim, saying it’s “inconceivable” Mercury had a child no one knew about.
- The internet responded with skepticism, comparing the claim to some random guy at a chip shop who “swears he’s Elvis.”
According to Dobson, the existence of an unknown love child is unlikely, given the rocker’s fame and the propensity of popular people’s secrets to leak.

Speaking to The Mirror, Dobson recalled her reaction when she heard the news:
“I went ‘what?’ I thought ‘no’? And I said to Brian: ‘Do you know about this?’ And he said: ‘Do you believe this?’”
She justified her doubt, saying:
“There must be lots of people who have children that we don’t know about. It’s just because it’s him. Because he’s iconic. And the type of animal that he was, it seems inconceivable that he would have a child with someone we don’t know about.”

She also challenged the author’s mystery child, now 48, who Jones names only as “B,” to come forward:
“If he does have one where is she – step forward. If she exists. Maybe it is just more fake news,” she told the outlet.

But Jones claims she has overwhelming evidence. She quotes what she says to be a letter from the woman who is living in Europe with a family of her own.
“Freddie Mercury was and is my father. We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life,” she writes, before saying that he “adored” her.

B allegedly anticipated the inevitable backlash the claims would attract. To this, she said:
“The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people’s standards, unusual and even outrageous. That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me.”
She also noted that Mercury’s secret was known to a few people, and they kept silent out of loyalty to him.

Jones has also contended with her share of dissent following her assertions and has since defended them:

“To those ‘demanding’ to see proof of a DNA test, otherwise they won’t believe it – please rest assured that the requisite verification was obtained, legal teams have been involved, but that such measures are private and not shared publicly.”

Jones’ response to this was:
“To those insisting Freddie Mercury’s diaries were faked with AI, that his daughter ‘doesn’t exist’ and that I’ve made the whole thing up: wait and see.”

“His own story is his true story, told in his own words, is incredible. I love him all the more for it. You will too,” she promised.
The internet thinks it is another bogus claim, like a man in a “chip shop who swears he’s Elvis”

In response to the news on Facebook, one netizen retorted sarcastically: “And there’s that guy in Australia that says he’s the child of King Charles and Camilla. [I] Wonder if they know each other.”
“There’s a bloke [who] works down our chip shop swears he’s Elvis,” quipped another.

But for some, the furor is unnecessary—like the netizen who wrote:
“Can you please stop posting this complete nonsense already?! Let dear Freddie rest in peace for goodness sake!”
