Careful: Soul Inside… My Journey Throughout The West Coast’s Homeless Souls
In June 2015, I started a personal ongoing series of photographic essays casing lives of real people throughout several cities of the West coast of the United States. People like you and me, who had plans and dreams, but for whatever reason ended up in the streets or shelters.
The idea of the project is rather simple: I engage with them, I listen to their stories and share, whenever allowed, their pictures and written narrative of ours conversations. The project’s purpose is to bring awareness to the fine line that separates society and the homeless and hopefully break this massive social wall that makes them practically invisible for most of us.
Over the timespan of one year, Careful: Soul Inside gained its own gallery exibition and has been showedcase in a few local newspapers and television throughout the West Coast of the United States.

Such warmth and openness in that face...and those eyes, those eyes...
Yeah, he was very soulful!
Load More Replies...That was the first thing he mentioned, when we first spoke!
Load More Replies...That's his brother (of H. Laurie). He doesn't wanted his help, tho...
It's funny you mentioned... that's exactly how he sounded to me.
Load More Replies...He was indeed one of the most interesting homeless people I've spoken so far. He claimed to be a retired Engineer.
Load More Replies...He was pretty inside and out! <3
Load More Replies...It's up to you create the story behind it... I like the idea though
Load More Replies...So true!!! Around his eyes area. He could be his brother.
Load More Replies...That's indeed a very powerful portrait!
Load More Replies...Almost poetic, don't you think, Catherine?
Load More Replies...You have captured their humanity, and that spark behind their eyes that says 'I'm still here'. This is a powerful series.
Thank you so much, Erin! I am so glad you like it!
Load More Replies...This fellow reminds me of Canadian author Robertson Davies...what a lovely full face...
Santa is homeless? This whole commercialism thing has gone too far!!! LOL Really incredible photography of real people with stories in their eyes.
I'll ask myself 'til the day I'll die-why are some ppl so full of hate? And they probably think they are great persons. Just not today, lol. Makes me sick. Shame on you, Alexandra Lee & this one with meth in her head. Laura Goggins. How dare you? Do you know her life story, for real? That's just rude and hateful. ):
All of them have blue eyes... I guess it's easier to emphasise soul when eye color pops.
The eyes have it, in each of your photographs. These are all exquisitely moving...
My brother, Brian, has been homeless off and on in downtown Toronto. Any one of these men could be him. Brian has schizophrenia and is autistic and nearly 70 years old now. I pray for him each night. I hope he is still alive.
You commented on the pictures, a women. You said it was you. Is it actually? Are you and your brother both homeless, is that why you can't find him or help him?
Load More Replies...No not Many homeless prefer the street. They just can't get their Life back on track because of rules and regulations. Mental problems.
The culture of America has become "every man for himself." If one lost a job, his family is supposed to bring him in and take care of him...
I Agree with you, Joel... it is rather sad seeing so many people, who just need some help, have to go through so much!
Load More Replies...All of their eyes have so many thoughts and stories behind them :o)
Silent, Thank you... I am so glad you admire them!
Load More Replies...Thanks, Teresa! They are indeed fabulous people!

I believe the prejudice is on the eyes of people. For instance right now you just assumed something becase on... ??... I live in Portland Oregon, West Coast of the USA. The demography of Africans and native Americans here is rather small, compared to other places...
Load More Replies...Its a true gift to be able to photograph people and tell their story with one picture. ..Amazingly done.. Pedro is the man.
Oh Wow... I am flattered, Chuck... thank you so much for your kind words! :)
