Weddings don't have to be expensive. We spent a couple of thousand at most for a wedding with maybe 25 people. The biggest expense was catering because if people were going to make the effort to come, they deserved a really good meal. Dress code for bridesmaids (our nieces) and groomspeople (nephew and (female) friend): wear something. Everyone had fun and we're still married over a decade later.

what in gods name has become of weddings these days? my wife and i had our wedding in 89, simple affair. one day batchelor party and batchlorette party. now? the wedding parties are now "things" for the brides to try and play with for "aesthetics". parties are now multi day events in exotic locations that cost thousands! what happened to love and the joining of two people?
