All artists have a lot in common. Whether you're a comic artist or a painter - you still experience similar situations like lack of inspiration or constantly being asked "Will you draw me?"
To celebrate all the artists out there, Bored Panda has put together a list of hilarious comics that only artists will understand. Keep on scrolling to see what we're talking about and don't forget to vote for your favorites!

It's scary how one can go from being the second last guy, to the first, to the second and to the last one, all in one day (in my case it's at night when I draw the best, and in the morning when I draw stick men and cry)
This is great depiction of the evolution of art. You started with the evolution from about 1850 and on, would have loved you to go back even further.
Pretty much. The evolution of art styles have been depicted with a green giraffe, and it's kind of sad
Still think they shouof ha've switched the images of dada with post modern art.
I think this green animal is a bad choice. I saw the same thing with another subject, a person, and colourful. It was easier too see the differences between styles.
How can I found out the name of the artist who drew this comic?
Seems very accurate yes. Accept I spend my time on hamino not Facebook
true for just about every art,.. and profession, come to think about it
ITA.....as a health professional, it takes me fuve minutes to fix you, but nine years of school and 25 years of experience to know what's wrong and how to make it better!!! PS, love artists, gave birth to one.
Load More Replies...5) wearing a beret and never shutting up about wine 6) talking about how you've never had boyfriends, only lovers
This is beautiful :3 though is it bad if I do also love coffee and listening to different kind of music, besides making art? xD
The landscape gallery will be expanding and reopening as the panorama gallery.
That's disappointing if a lot of people really had that experience. I took an art course in college, and it was very helpful (and our model had a nice body, and she was actually attending art school on a different campus so she walked around during breaks to look at our work and give suggestions), I learned a lot and more importantly improved exponentially.
i personally think it's BULLSH*T that the illustrations here imply that you have to be 'young & attractive' in order to pose... so much for 'everyone's beautiful' huh?
Those expressions were pixar worthy, and she' really cute. i'm still lol-ing
Figure & gesture drawing, actually the more imperfect they are, the more interesting it is to draw them :) at least for me.
God I love it when people expect this s**t out of art school. Art school is similar to the fundamentals of martial arts, they only give you the training wheels to work with your subject matter. It's up to you to make the specifications of that said art work from the common ground that you have. Alexander the Great didn't just learn the ways of conquering after a year session with Aristole.
That is LITERALLY all I learned from my college drawing class was the difference between h and b pencils. Oh, and how to draw only using shading.
It happens to me with writing too. And sketch books my dad stolen from me, lol
Load More Replies...Yeah, I'm a writer, and this is prettymuch me as well. Just keep going 'what the Hell was I thinking'.
I hate how hard it is to develop a style. Mine right now looks like a two-year-old having a seizure
I don't try to develop a style anymore. Whatever I draw, it comes out spontaneously, unless I wanna copy or use a particular style for fanart/concept reasons. But I think I can define my most usual spontaneousness as a classical semi-realistic style used for comic series, looking kinda Euro-Asian. Man, gotta get back to DeviantArt.
Load More Replies...My style is basically just consisted of 5,000,000 of my friends' styles mashed together to convey a 4 year old who had super supportive parents that sugarcoat everything entering an art contest and coming in dead last
the thing i that we all see it that way because you had to draw it that way for the comic am i not a brilliant
It depends on the day lol I can sometimes draw van picassdraw person and yesness but other times It looks like a potato having a stroke
I-I know how that feels... I spent 4 weeks on a piece and someone called it theirs.
Same goes for me. I draw something for a friend. Their friends come back to me that I stole it. Even when that friend of theirs cannot draw.
Load More Replies...I wish there was something that could stop this... (T_T) I'm still wondering if I should post my work on the internet too but I'm scared that this might happen
Oh My God. My heart litrally hurts for this poor, adorable piece of art.
This happens WAY too often, thank god some of the artists make it so that it is nearly impossible to crop the picture without ruining the actual center of it.
I'm happy that pretty much every artist has this common enemy; the hand.
I find it kinda funny because I never reaaally had this problem. Maybe because one of the first things I would draw when I was little were my own hands :P
Load More Replies...I think you should just leave the arm how it is, without the hand, still looks good.
notice how the hand in third panel is the same one in the final panel
Shading with hallucinogenic lines is thing i want to try now :)
That moment when I can't even draw with my other hand.. or the backgrounds.. ;_;
Every musician...but we are like, "I'll just change like two notes and then we're good"
...also in advertising school. Fellow students would circle poor unsuspecting victims after proudly showing a concept...and then snarl, "It's been done!"

Load More Replies...Making comics like: the title and major part of the storyline ended up being a line from a pretty popular song, but the song doesn't go with the lore at all so its ok right
It's even worse when you have 30+ layers in your Photoshop file...
Get a white mouse cursor or drag a contrasting color window pane under it if you don't want to start wiping.
Load More Replies...Presumably this doesn't happen much in real life. In the process of zooming & panning, it's pretty obvious what stays in place. Just sayin'.
My computer has so many dirt specks that I sometimes can't tell if it's the drawing or a dirt speck.
Im lucky my school knows better cause if they didnt trust me ive have slapped a few kids .....ok not a few prob. a lot
Load More Replies...True... people do this to me. I'm like, "B***h, did I ask you? No, now why don't you go and get the hell out of my business."
Used to happen to me all the time when I was young, I'd show my drawing (tried to do anime...ish art it was horrible) But when someone pointed out the flaws in my own original characters and even laughed at them, I felt so bad I nearly stopped drawing all together, but I decided not to do it and instead continue with my art and it has gotten SO MUCH better.
Sister: does this girl looks weird to you? *a drawing of a hooded girl* Me: .... where's her eyes? She: the hoodie is covering it Me: fail
Happens to me, only I actually forget the great idea I had like after five minutes :(
This one works for lots of other creative professions, too, like basically all of academia, only I don't have her awesome hair.
Yeah. I do this. When I'm at school, I'm like, "yyyYYYYYYYYESSSSSSSSS I'm a genius I NEEEEED to do this." *getting home from school* "Wtf was I thinking"
Once in like second grade we could do whatever and I was drawing Olaf and like 3 people came to me and told me to draw for them lol
I love how there's that one person in the back and I just know what they are thinking "why arnt they looking at me?! Her art isn't even that good!"
Me. I usually wait for a 40-50 % discount cupón to do it.
Load More Replies...I do this all the time I go to Michael's. I look at everything, and then... *falls to knees* nnnnnnnnnnnnOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Companies who want to employ graphic designers are basically fuckboys
"You think I wanted your art? 😂 Your art is nasty af"
Load More Replies...I hate it when people try to do that. Like, why the f**k do you think I won't charge you you like everybody else?
I have really bad social anxiety so my character has a bag on his head lol, and in real life nobody ever really sees my face because I wear glasses and a face mask with my hood up. Low self esteem go BRRRRRRRRR
people think I'm weird just because I like Studio Ghibli movies and music better than a social life...anyone with me?
Load More Replies...A regular eraser is too big, it'll erase more than you need to and occasionally miss the spot you're trying to erase altogether.
Load More Replies...When in need of an eraser... Use fresh white bread. Much safer than pencil erasers.
Yep. The high-polymer erasers solve ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL your erasing problems.
It's like dude! Get the f**k away before I get a reverse bear trap and stick it in your mouth!
while he's there you could probably shove the pencil down his throat
Load More Replies...Love this one! I always find it interesting how many think that studying art or practising art is not valuable (like the guy in the comic complaining about ''getting a real job"). Take all that's art related away in your life and see how much fun is left. Good luck with that.
some are so true!! "can you draaww mee??" me drawing the body base* Omg why are you dawing naked anime girls??
Another one is "oh! Is that you? Is it you? Oh its you isn't it?! Its uuuuuuuu!" Like, no! In fact, I have actually almost NEVER drawn a self portrait, so now I'm practiceing in privet and I will draw a flower, a mountain, a cow for all they care! They will still think its me! 😂 I feel so awkward and bad for them lol
Onde stabbed a Guy in the arm With My pencil cuz he wouldnt stop trying to make med draw a dragon....
a lot of people say," why are they naked!?" in like ," IM NOT DONE!!!
Worst is when u try to outline the head and they keep moving slightly everytime u look down
Load More Replies...Sometimes when I draw a character I'll also make the face they're making.. which is the main reason I like to draw alone..
Did someone notice that in second frame she should be flipped horizontally?
In fact, if you hadn't mentioned it, I was going to. Props to ya!
Load More Replies...They always ask me who I'm drawing. I DONT KNOW ITS A DRAWING OF SOME RANDOM PERSON I MADE UP IN MY MIND!
Load More Replies...Haha! I don't have this problem as I only draw animals :P but sometimes dogs would randomly bark at me........ Wait..
why not? Just say that it will cost some money. artists who just say no look very snooty
I draw something so epically awesome, then a random dude requests for a flying dickbutt. Seriously...?
Yeah, I hate working in groups. No idea what everyone else is going to do.
I honestly thought the head in the first pic was the man who drew the pony
Load More Replies...i had a guy who wanted me to teach him how to draw mlp a ew weeks later I found out he was a no no square creep.
I really love this. I'm the one on the right, and I've done this before. I like to express myself, sometimes I feel dark and depressing but draw ponies, and sometimes I feel happy and girly but then I draw some warrior princess being a badass and decapitating someone
im 15 and i like my little pony so you can shut your mouth
Load More Replies...sorry to burst your bubble, but if you aren't talented at art, you can't be an artist.
um yes you can. artist doesn't necessarily mean your job is being an artist, it can be your hobby and your passion and you can still be not that good at it
Load More Replies...Only works when you are planning on digital reproduction. When you want to print it later, you are screwed. Or screenshot and trace your own artwork in print resolution.
Load More Replies...That's why I usually move the cursor really reeeeally slow. Like just one sudden move and the whole app gonna crash q(; – ; )
Thats why control+S is alot quicker than lightning before the problem show up.
Ah, Schrodinger's painting. It both exists and doesn't exist at the same time.
I have stuck my brushes in my coffee more times than I care to admit.
While I have never actually done this, I have come damned close...
Load More Replies...Thank god I don't paint o_o I suck at it, AND it's dangerous. I have lost too many pens though.
haha, yeah. That's one of the reasons i always use a straw, because i'll know the difference between a paintbrush and a straw without drinking any paintwater :o)
that's why I only compare my art to my older art :D
Load More Replies...My friend is a great artist but she can't just grab a picture and then copy it. One day we couldn't figure out how to draw a pug so I took a book and we both tried copying it. After we compared she just stared at mine "But how could you? But- but it just. Aargh! How do you even do that?!"
I don't need other people to know my art is bad, all i have to do is look at it
You've managed to capture my artist life perfectly. I hate when my friends go, "Why do they only have one eye?" Because anime eyes are hard to draw and I'm a perfectionist.
you think anime eyes are hard? You clearly haven't tried realistic eyes. that s**t is somehow harder than anime eyes. thats why i do cartoons.
Load More Replies...Well, you could try and let them finish! You're not the artist so you won't understand what they're trying to draw until they're done
More like she won't be able to break his fingers while hers are broken :D
Load More Replies...Haha look at what she's writing... also, I'm twelve years old, and when I was little I wanted to become an artist, but my dad said the they don't make good money, sooooooo that crushed my dreams...
As someone who is currently persuing a career in both art and science, I say FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS. Because most of the time they don't go away, and you may be wishing you'd worked on it more when you're older. Of course, its always good to have a backup plan (hence my science course), to support you in the rough times :)
Load More Replies...my parents told me I was TOO smart for art and they wanted me in Law School. I was good at it, but quit school just to work and have a family. Now I'm a stay at home Mom learning graphic design on her own for the last 3years! :D
I studied architecture in college, but later decide to be a comic artist.I make money with commission jobs and sale royalties. When asked on how can I survive this, the answer is simply you have to draw it beautifully and like any other job you have to do it everyday.
I stopped MS paint. So overrated but then again, so is SumoPaint (that's cheap online photoshop paint)
That's completely true. However, it can be put on the fridge door!
A simple solution: Only show it to non--artist friends OR artists who suck at anime.
This applies exactly the same to some other fields, like when I started 3D meshing for a game. The best comment I'd get from the gurus was 'You're getting there' just when I thought I HAD GOT THERE.
This is actually a fairly well and easy way of understanding of how you can look at art. I love it!
my art teachers tell me not to do lineart but it looks like c**p without it
This is followed by a 3 phases: #1) Uncontrollable breathing #2) Impatiently waiting and looking at the screen for 10 minutes, hoping it will be just fine #3) Accepting your fate #4BONUS) You will think about this mistake for the rest of the week
This is why you save a ton xD Every few minutes. That way, if it DOES refuse to save, you're only down a few minutes of work.
Load More Replies...And THAT'S why I draw only on paper. Also, (I don't have a tablet) if there isn't screencapture for tablets they should somehow make that possible.
While drawing, I will hold it in my hand, making gestures on my tablet. When I'm not drawing though, I'll put it in its stand.
Somewhere next to me. The only problem is it seems to disappear seconds after I layed it down.
My drawing pen is so bad, i decided to leave on my desk one night so it could randomly disappear. IT WORKED AND IM HAPPY.
if i had that i would prob keep it in my mouth, but id end up chewing it up... do i have a problem
Well, you can still say you have drawn a bunch of study lines :D You might have erased them and not having evidence to show, but you've done it anyway!
Doing CTRL + Z is probably the most common. So is CTRL + Y, but we all know we can't get back that perfect line, once it's erased.
That's why I don't draw digitally. Paper art looks much better anyways.
I do digital art so often I sometimes forget I'm drawing traditionally when I do.
I've never actually tried making digital art, sure it looks way better than doing it with good ol' pen and paper, but it seems so difficult, and I can't afford the programs for it xD
I'm the "Surgical Illustrator" type, but with live animals :) I have a special book for my mouse pieces so I don't get poops on my good sketchbook
I like how this is labeled "Sketchbooks of the Pros" and all of the books are different for everyone :o)
In the last one, the words seem like they could be part of a Dr Seuss book
Very true. I always imagined something from a RP (roleplay) and I've planned to draw it out but it comes out childish
I actually keep some of my oolllllld art around for this very reason. Great motivational booster.
Load More Replies...I think most, no matter hwo confident they are, are on thin ice if you say a thing like in panel 3
In my case, I've gotten positive reactions so far. But remember - if you wanna make people percieve your drawing as a present, make sure you don't just give them paper. Put your work in a frame if it's for, for example, your teacher, or a protective plastic foil if it's for a friend.
Whether the person is an artist or not, the moment someone spends time and effort in a drawing for someone else with no goal of achieving money or fame, they should appreciate the heck out of the artist!
Yeah, sometimes my friends get jealous when I make a "good" drawing them.
Load More Replies...This reminds me of years ago when I build a maple hutch for my wife's birthday. Even made all the molding myself. She was unhappy with it because I hadn't spent any money on it.
True story! Every time I doodle during a meeting at work, it's "Oh you draw? Lemme see! Who's this?"
My art block is more like a dungeon cell, I've been trapped dozen times and I've escaped very little because each time I come back, so hard.
Nothing like a comic that doesn't add all words to create a normal statement
Oh my gosh one time I was drawing like an orc assassin thing and I had really bright sky blue Led lights on and I thought the guy was dark purple with summer green blood and a really deep plum tunic but when I turned on the real lights he was HOT PINK and I died none of my colors were right and now it looks ridiculous :,)
It's okay, cringing at old artworks is what keeps us moving forward! ...And keeps us cringing, of course
I actually like laughing at my old stuff and think about where I was in life at the time
I hate it when people whack my shoulder when I’m paper drawing (especially when I am inking) cause it makes your arm jerk
Cellphone voice recording app? Might also double as sleep talk recorder.
I'm a mix of this, "wow I've really improved" and "wow I don't sick anymore "
I get that problem all the time! I often prefer to draw the face at an angle where there's only one eye to draw.
yeah relatable but ima right handed so the left eye is hard to draw
Hell yeah. Of course there are people still here!
Load More Replies...#11 about giving artists credit is totally captured off of a computer screen via a camera and it actually seems to help the point.
