Bedroom Skylight Idea: Room Full Of Stars By Amin Moazzen
A skylight is a see-through roof that inevitably will leak.
Load More Replies...That's a bed for sex, not for sleeping. Unless it has well hidden blinds.
Only if you’re into voyeurism surely? At the very least the birds and bees are going to be watching!
Load More Replies...It looks beautiful. Once more you the designers want to sell you a piece of paradise. But who is going to clean all those windows?
Exactly my thought ! It IS beautiful and it'll be wonderful from week 1 to week 3. Then you'll start noticing a leaf or two that are not blown away by the wind, and little by little it'll become moldy. And who's gonna go there to clean? How?
Load More Replies...Unless you have a maid to make that bed you're going to hate it after a week or so.
Yes! My first thought was that bed would be a b!tch to make up
Load More Replies...Sun early in the morning wouldn't both me. What a beautiful design!
i want that view at night, not morning i will not lay down it will be too hot
Casa Lorena, A Small Oasis In The Center Of Merida, Mexico By Workshop Diseño Y Construcción
Looks fairly protected from the insanity on the other side of their wall.
Almaty Cafe And Restaurant By M.serhat Sezgin, Zebrano Furniture And Mkg
The overall design concept here is quite nice, but I hate all the fake plants (all the hanging stuff is plastic, and that’s not good)
I think its a great idea because of all the cost,a life plant would accure.
Load More Replies...They took two different buildings, cut them in half, & and glued them together.
Love plants, but so many around food?? Not sure that's a great idea. But it is BEAUTIFUL
The majority of these images are just concepts, created in some software and edited and beautified to look more like a real image and not just a CAD drawing. This isn’t just for the pleasure of our eyes, although we do appreciate it, it’s to help sell the design. While many architects do simply make things for themselves, the ultimate goal is to get a client to buy the design.
This doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some wonderful interior and room concepts, since a pleasing design is still a pleasing design. Some might decry the use of computer imagery, but architects have been using computers since the 70s, probably saving hundreds of hours in the process. Of course, this also means that from time to time they end up creating something that will give engineers and builders a headache, but that’s just part of the process.
Fallingwater House, Pennsylvania, By Frank Lloyd Wright, 1935.
After its completion, Time called Fallingwater Wright's "most beautiful job" and it is listed among Smithsonian's "Life List of 28 Places to See Before You Die".
Is mold and mildew a constant problem inside the house? I understand the concrete has been crumbling for years.
That's right. The building had nothing but problems right from the start: mold, sagging floors, disintegrating concrete... the original owners, the Kaufmann family, had to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars just to keep the building from falling down.
Load More Replies...it's built over the waterfall on purpose. you get a very clear view mere steps from the house though. and the constant trickling of the water is very serene
Load More Replies...Tiny Home In Deylaman, Iran By Ev Design Office
Me too. I'd love a small home, almost like a nest i can curl up in. Huge houses hold no appeal to me; and that's not even on an ecological level.
Load More Replies...Very tiny. Pretty. However, what's behind the bed? Bathroom or kitchen - whatever it is, there isn't room for both, is it?
It's beautiful. I would want shades, especially in the bedroom/bathroom.
I believe most homes & buildings that are photographed have the window coverings removed for "aesthetic" purposes. Otherwise there are a lot of houses out there with strange people living in them...

My grandparents had a small slate paved courtyard like this, square, wrapped by their entire house, with a beautiful tree and many other plants, with a small table and chair inside. It was all floor to ceiling window walls like this as well. So you could look in from any side of the house, including one bedroom looking into it. Each side had a slider door, and the guest bedroom looking into it had floor length velvety curtains to draw and close off the room. My dad had helped them build it (they were my moms parents, and always treated him like their son, they just adored him). I remember as a kid, thinking it was just magical! The whole house was neat like that, little details that really stood out. I miss it greatly.
If that’s open on the top, you’re going to get water stains from rain, and possibly also mold and mildew as well. Nice concept, but not practical. They forgot that SOMEONE will have to clean it.
Won't happen, because this is just a render. Other than that, you're right ;)
Load More Replies...for some reason this creates an intense sense of both peace and nostalgia.
I see your point. Made me think about the rose of Beauty and the Beast. Life under a glass
Load More Replies...While these are just static images, the future of viewing designs might even allow us to walk through them and evaluate them. With technology like VR, you could probably “demo” a few designs for a room or business before settling on one. Technology is in the works to integrate a variety of tests, from heating, cooling, and even wind resistance. This is important, as the wrong material in a particularly hot or cold region will create all sorts of problems.
Green Castle Eco-House In Harlem, New York City By Luis De Garrido
I'm still waiting for the "BuT tHe BuGs" panickers 🙄
Load More Replies...While it's a great idea, the house was designed in 2015 and never built. This is the original article about it: https://amazingarchitecture.com/visualization/green-castle-eco-house-in-harlem-new-york-city-by-luis-de-garrido And if you look at the renderings in the article, the space the house occupies is still vacant today: 265W 121st Street, New York NY
I live in Harlem, but have never seen this place. will need to check it out!
Old Mountain House In Ankara, Turkey By M.serhat Sezgin And Zebrano Furniture
To gloomy for my taste. Am really not into this antracite/ brown/ black colour scheme. But to each their own.
Same. I prefer light and airy to dark and gloomy like a spider hole.

I wonder how many times they've smashed their heads on the concrete when swimming between rooms? That lady isn't even looking where she's going. Just a little off on either side & she's in for a rough time.
More contemporary designs, which most of these would fit into, see a building not as a separate entity, but as a part of a larger city ecosystem. This isn't completely new, as many older cities even have ordinances making sure that buildings maintain the style of the area if they are in more historical districts. Modern architects also consider how the building will influence the urban landscape, traffic, and ecology of the area.
Thousand Oaks Residence In Berkeley, California By Sogno Design Group. Photography: Michele Lee Willson
My love of trees is driving me over the top for this place!!!! WOW WOW WOW
There are two Thousand Oaks' communities in California; one in Berkeley and one in Southern California near Los Angeles. The one near LA is a city in Ventura County of about 140,000 people. This article is about the northern T.O. Both nice places.

Tagh Pelleh Office Building In Tehran, Iran By Hossein Kalantari And Amirhossein Rezaei
Depending on species, most of a trees roots are in the top 6-12" of soil. And since these trees will need significant management by an arborist anyway, keeping their roots healthy will just be part of their regular care.
Load More Replies...It's like they took a bunch of containers and giant mailboxes & stacked them on top of each other to make a slapdash apartment building. They should've put really big red "flags" on the side of the giant mailboxes you can turn up to let people know you're home.
Casa Katana In Crete, Greece By Konstantinos Stathopoulos / Krak. Architects
https://amazingarchitecture.com/futuristic/casa-katana-in-crete-greece-by-konstantinos-stathopoulos-krak-architects
Load More Replies...While 20th-century architects focused largely on form, with slogans like “a rationally designed structure may not necessarily be beautiful but no building can be beautiful that does not have a rationally designed structure,” written by American architect Louis Sullivan, it’s clear that many modern people prefer some degree of beauty. "The elimination of ornament" was seen as cutting edge, but now people still obsess over older forms of architecture, from art deco to art nouveau and even classical construction.

Amazing Organic House In Moscow Designed By Niko Architect
On the one hand, travel has never been more accessible, and internet access more ubiquitous, on the other hand, this has in some circles created a mish-mash of styles that many feel remove the uniqueness of a place's style. Even in this list, readers can find interior designs from different continents with very visible similarities. However, it’s important to not overestimate how common these designs are, as most buildings still tend to incorporate local designs and materials.
Renovation Of Mill And Conversion Into Housing By Stempel & Tesar Architekti
We need more projects like this: Renovation and reusing already existing buildings. Here is more about his project in Czech Republic https://amazingarchitecture.com/houses/renovation-of-mill-and-conversion-into-housing-by-stempel-tesar-architekti
Interesting. I would have tried to put something like lexan over the courtyard to keep it usable in inclement weather. And get that waterwheel producing a little power! Even just garden lights or something... If you're gonna rebuild it, put it to use!
Load More Replies...Wait is the middle part open? Then how is the smaller side bit used?? It doesn't seem wide enough for proper rooms, nevermind the questions of both how to go upstairs and how to use upstairs. Seems like a waste of space.
It's just for show and part of the courtyard. https://amazingarchitecture.com/houses/renovation-of-mill-and-conversion-into-housing-by-stempel-tesar-architekti
Load More Replies...I'd rather have the fireplace and chimney than the single lonely leaking (probably) skylight.
Except that extensive renovation is often much more expensive than complete replacement, especially when there are likely issues with the foundations in older buildings.
Mediterranean Terrace Visualization By Arquitectos Fayjos
You know you're old when pictures of stairs without handrails make you cringe! I am old. :D
And you know you’ve cleaned your own house when all you can think about is vacuuming up tons of fallen petals——and I won’t even go into all the goddamned BUGS!
Load More Replies...Yeah sorry, but why don't you have a pane of glass in there inbetween the cactus and living area? What if someone falls in there?!?
Exactly! I'm clumsy, I'd have to replace the cacti.
Load More Replies...I'd hate to be drunk there & accidentally fall into the desert area. Ouch!
Again, beautiful but bugs and debris on food, etc. I like plants to be a little less intrusive on where I eat and sit. Just me...
What purpose do the stairs serve? They just lead up to the cacti but I don't see a path or a place to walk?
Luxury Wellness Hotel Acro Suites Fuses A Sense Of Place, Design And Serenity
I'm good, thanks. That looks like a potential death-trap. You definitely do NOT want to be jumping, flipping & diving into that pool.
Instead of committing to one specific style, as we see with the internationalists and modernists, many architects experiment, which often leads to them being “placed” in the post-modern school. This is just a fancy way of saying they blend ideas, and styles and are generally less formal than their contemporary counterparts. Famous examples include the Ally Detroit Center in, you guessed it, Detroit and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Amazing Bathroom With Skylight Designed And Visualized By Maximiliano Carbonell
I love a skylight in a bathroom but right over the bathtub? That's a big no for me what with any military helicopters, small planes, and private drones around.
Villa 87, Hyderabad, India Designed By Karan Desai
Is that a bed over the 'pool'? Imagine rolling over in a nightmare and splashing down!
That's one way to make sure you're wide awake in the morning! Lol
Load More Replies...Seriously?! I would spend all my time on that "floating bed" above the water. That is freaking awesome!!! It would suck if you rolled out of bed, but it should wake you right up so you shouldn't drown.
Ga On Jai House In Bundang-Gu, South Korea By Iroje Khm Architects
This looks great modern and traditional architecture molten together.
They really made sure that place gets watered. Even the rain that lands on the roof will be directed into the atrium.
Calm Street Cafe In Doha, Qatar By M.serhat Sezgin And Zebrano Furniture
Same architects who designed the Almaty Café & Restaurant - #2 in this list at present
It shows doesn't it. I thought they looked very similar, style wise. Could be the same building, 2 different rooms honestly. Beautiful!
Load More Replies...Ring By Hansinok Archviz
It's not an actual structure. It is a digital rendering of an idea
Is it just a pool? Not "just", but I mean, no house or buildings, just a pool?
Hmm? They should've made it into a giant sundial. Now there's something else to slowly fall apart.
Black House In Santa Clara, New York Designed By Milad Eshtiyaghi Studio
The most relaxing home I've seen - every room is almost too peaceful. Doubt I'd get anything done... just laze around or nap all day
You'd have to roll off the couches and roll out of bed as some furniture is reeeaaallly low.
Load More Replies...Yeah...but no. Love the forest and the natural light (sunshades for winter?) but black everywhere? Naah.
I hope that's in a cold place, because black absorbs heat like a sponge to water.
A School In The Deserts Of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India
I have seen pics of the inside and its really cool (temperature wise as well). Its in a Desert in India, for local Village girls. Lots of cross ventilation and shade given the positioning of the building, and powered by solar energy!
They even have a running track on the roof. I've always been interested in things like schools, hospitals, and other commonly shared places in other countries. Pretty neat.

Load More Replies...Tuesday. Watering and cleaning petals day. Should be into office never.
Again, SOMEONE is going to have to vacuum up tons of petals, and exterminate tons of BUGS. Pretty concept, but a hard pass for me.
its all fun and games till they all die bc u cant reach them to give them water
I had a picture book as a child in which the main character (reminiscent of Strawberry Shortcake, the cartoon character) lived in a house like this.
Gorgeous! Impractical as hell, but gorgeous. If these floral designs could be somehow done as art installations, though... could be interesting.
Kengo Kuma’s Water Cherry Villa On The Japanese Coast
That's not a tub, that's a pool. So much water wasted on pleasure. I love the living room though.
I have always had a fascination with the Japanese culture. Beautiful work.
I've never understood the need to put a big window beside the bathtub.

Farmhouse In Bowral, Australia By Omar Hakim
Also, what are they farming? Coca leaves? Opium poppies? Acres of marijuana?
I had the same question! No farmer I know would have this.

Beautiful, but I would f*****g HATE to have to dust it and clear out cobwebs—-and real webs.
Cobwebs, cocoons and mud wasp houses. Not for me even if it is AI generated.
It‘s a Midjourney Picture and in my opinion doesn’t belong here. I‘m no AI-Hater but Promting is no Architecture.
It looks so AI to me. I don't think anyone.on Eart.would have the funds, time and space to create this building.
Pink Pavilion, Los Angeles, California By Davit & Mary Jilavyan / Lemeal Studio
Yeah, I would’ve thought they’d have a heart-shaped pool instead of a round one. Then again, I’d be the a*****e who’d get rid of the pepto bismol pink and paint it with more soothing and serene pastel blues, greens, and yellows, with pops of brighter complementary colors applied sparingly here and there.

Yes. When I realized that many of these were not actual places, but just potential places, I kinda lost interest. Which isn't to say that they aren't neat ideas, but it's cooler when a design has been realized because it becomes a place you can dream of visiting.
Load More Replies...What is with the tendancy for huge windows with no cutains or blinds in bedrooms and bathrooms?
I grew up on a house my dad built for us. The front half had no 2nd story so you could see up to the 2nd floor ceiling. Anyway, that Western facing wall was 2 stories of windows, right by the beach. We had blinds, but he used a tall hook to grab the blind cords for the top windows DAILY, and he brought in a ladder to Windex them every couple weeks. And he kept the outside pristine as well. I can't even estimate the number of birds we heard hitting those Invisible walls. 'THUNK!' Then we'd all rush outside to see what poor creature was lying there. Sometimes they shook it off and flew away. Mostly they broke their necks and died. It was really tragic when it was larger, less populous birds. My dad is native American, not that no one else would feel bad too. But he really mourned seeing those living creatures die. He'd give them a burial, it was sweet. Those windows were a massive maintenance isssue.

Incorporation of plants into interiors is pleasing to the eyes but a nightmare for insectophobes like me.
Exactly! I was wondering if anyone else thought the same way. I went to a fancy restaurant once, kind of half indoor, half outdoor, plants everywhere, really beautiful. I thought I saw a mouse and looked closer. It was a roach the size of a mouse. We left immediately.

OK, so they're almost all "visualizations" that don't exist in RL. At least I'm encouraged to see some color & not the drab gray/black/beige messes BP has been posting recently. None of these are practical, so please keep trying, architects! Just remember your designs will house people (of all ages & abilities) who will need privacy & maybe enjoy sleeping late? And who will definetely have to clean & change lightbulbs!
