Yes, some people are super funny. But animals take comedy to a whole new level. They have the ability to make us laugh without even trying, and most of the time, they're none the wiser. They don't need a platform, punchlines or a perfectly-written script. Give a cat a cardboard box and a ball of wool; or a dog a boring sentence delivered with an important facial expression, and what follows is often comedy gold.

When I was 6 I found out that I was adopted. I had been snooping in the upstairs bedroom and found a Polaroid photo of a woman holding a baby, and it had my name, some random person's name, and my birth year on it. I took the photo to my mom and asked, "Who's Rose?" XD Turns out she's my bio mom! My mom started crying and tried to explain adoption to me. I rationalized it easily by saying "Oh, so you adopted me, the way we adopted Split?" (our dog.) My mother was NOT thrilled with that comparison, but it helped me understand it and accept it easily XD Split was a family member to me anyway, so it made perfect sense that we were both still family even though we were both adopted! Well, I'm still going by the nickname/username I've been using for 33 years since I was 11... XD "Lakota" was a real wolf in one of those WWF "Adopt a Wolf" kits my family got me for Christmas that year. I started using that name for my character when I would draw myself (as a wolf, of course) in comics, and I used it for my first AOL screenname that year too. I've been going by Lakota ever since 1993 XD
