Someone Just Dumped 1000 Tiny Chicks In A Field, And Left Them To Die
Last week on Friday morning, someone noticed 1000 one-day-old chicks left to die in the field near Peterborough, England. The person immediately contacted the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and asked to save the birds. When the staff members of RSPCA arrived, they were shocked. “I have never seen anything like it – it was just a sea of yellow,” inspector Justin Stubbs said.
“And the noise was unbelievable. The chicks are only about a day old and are really tiny and quite delicate.” Unfortunately, not all of them survived: “Some of the birds were dead or dying when we arrived so some, sadly, had to be humanely put to sleep. Thankfully, most of the chicks did not appear to be suffering.”
The RSPCA launched an investigation to find out who left the birds to die in the field. It is suspected that they were taken from a commercial chick producer nearby, and put in a field by a third party – but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
At least the chicks are safe and sound now.

Share on FacebookIts because of all of them are males. I know, its hard to believe.
Well, one should probably also mention that male chicks are typically killed with gas, or put into over-dimensioned shredding machines. Cheap eggs and cheap chicken breast come at a price. On the other hand, raising millions and millions of male chickens to have them live a life of no purpose (probably in small cages) does not sound more humane.
Load More Replies...The true shock about this is that these little beings usually get killed without anybody noticing.
There will be millions of them killed around the world, every day.

Hm - it is always funny how people can act "shocked" about something like this but on the other hand ignoring cruelty against animals at all. "1.33 Billion Chicken Wings To Be Eaten On Super Bowl Sunday And More Food Factoid Fun." Fun? Hm...
Google maile chicks grinder video.....I won't link it....too gruesome.
This is heartbreaking, but what's even worse is that this isn't the worst fate these chicks could have... The life of a chicken is heartbreaking...
As some already mentioned, raising male chickens is too expensive and a waste of resouces (food, water, etc). In Germany they should normally be killed by gas. But science will help soon, they are developing methods to test the eggs so they can be sorted out in a early stage before hetching. But well, in not so well developed countries it will take a lot of more time.
This is so sad. I can't believe someone would do this. I hope those little guys have a good life. :'(
Flax is gross. I recommend chia seed. Makes its own mucosal substance in water.
Load More Replies...Yes, this is so much worse than the millions of chicks that are ground up alive every day!
Normally these little guys can be found chirping as they flap around aimlessly on a conveyorbelt, only to be pulled into freefall into a pair of spinning metal wheels where they meet their death. If I were a chick, I think I'd prefer to die in a field - Atleast I'd know what the light of day looked like.
Its a terrible thing to say,but sometimes i think. They are better of dead. so many animals are so beeing abused. its horror,to think about it. i am glad ,i take no part in this anymore, with my vegan living
It would be better to sell them then to let them die for no reason
Disgusting!!! And disrespectful !!! Cruel person!!! A animal is animal and not trash.
You know they usually grind them up in a machine after they hatch, right? Is that better?
Load More Replies...Killing thousands of chicks every day is the price we all pay for eating eggs. But just dumping them in a field to die of thirst and exposure??? WTF???
Michelle, go and inform yourself about chicken farming and egg production. Yes, there are breeder roosters, but the bulk of the males is killed. It's 2017, people have access to the internet and apparently still don't know where their food comes from. -_-

I wish I had bypassed this story. It made me feel so sad , &, so ashamed of my fellow humans.

This is horrible! You can´t just ¨throw away" an animal because you don´t want them!!!
What I mean is, cute but sad that someone would do that. I honestly wouldn't know what to do if I saw that!
I think these sub-human barbaric evil monsters should rot in hell !!
This is what we fund when we eat eggs. This or maceration (being thrown alive into a grinder) or gassing or even simply being thrown into plastic bags and left outside to die slowly of starvation or crushing. And we have no biological need to consume animal parts or products. We do it for our pleasure and convenience. This happens to them within their first 24 hours of new life. Sickening - and utterly unnecessary.
Exposure. And people are helping, you can see in the pic.

Sucks. They call that act of dumping "callous" yet the usual result is death in a grinder and only "crazy vegans" get upset about that?

These Chicks are not safe and sound. they were given back to the hatchery where they were ground up alive.
Sounds like some stupid thing PETA would do. So many activists are clueless and uneducated and end up harming those they think they are saving.
Gosh, I'm surprised the people found them before foxes or cats. That could have been a bloodbath. Lucky birds.
Not lucky. They're being euthanized because of local bird flu.

Eggs are just chicken periods, they're unfertilised, you're not killing anything by eating eggs. If you want ethical eggs just raise hens, simple. And it really isn't better to set things free nowadays, chickens aren't bred to defend themselves, and they can be run over fairly easily.
Load More Replies...In the middle of a field? If that was their intention, they would have dumped them at RSPCA or at least called them anonymously after dumping. Either way, it was cruel and irresponsible.
