In the weeks after the devastating earthquake in Mexico City I felt the impeding need to do something for my neighborhood that was terribly damaged and sad. I wanted to hug all my neighbors, give us hope and remember that we weren’t alone in this feeling of dispare, so, since I needed to knit to calm my nerves anyway, I decided to knit big hearts and literally hug the trees in front of the collapsed buildings while metaphorically hugging every person that walked by with a sad face and fear in their hearts.
