Bachelorette Party Excludes One Woman Because She Refuses To Shave, Bride-to-be Receives Revenge
There is no one right way to go about body hair; whether you grow it out or shave it clean, the decision is yours to make. However, the former option might make some people uncomfortable.
Redditor u/IndependentOcelot832 opened up about being ostracized from the friend group because of her body hair. To make matters worse, one friend took it as far as booking an appointment with her waxer, but the OP chose petty revenge instead.

Despite being completely natural, body hair is something some people choose to remove. And whether you prefer embracing your natural hair or being silky smooth, at the end of the day, it’s completely up to you. However, society has deemed one more conventionally accepted than the other, especially when it comes to body hair on women.
Some studies suggest that, based on society’s views, a woman with body hair is considered less sexually and interpersonally attractive than her hairless counterpart. Moreover, she might be seen as “less sociable, intelligent, happy, and positive, and as more aggressive, active, and strong”. Women removing body hair has become so normative over the decades that in some people’s eyes, it has rendered hairlessness the “appropriate condition” for the female body.
British philosopher and professor of Global Ethics at the University of Birmingham Heather Widdows suggested that nowadays, it’s the hairy body that stands out, despite it being the natural one. She pointed out that women tend to remove any visible hair, including the private area, and research seems to support the idea—a survey of over 3300 women revealed that nearly 84% of them at least groom their pubic hair.
But the professor—and author of Perfect Me: Beauty as an Ethical Ideal—also emphasized that men too have started following hair removal practices, which has led to new techniques, known as the “back, sack and crack” waxing, or a “manzilian”, sometimes also called “boyzilian”.

“Today, most women feel like they have to shave. Like they have no other option. There’s something deeply fraught about that—though perceptions are slowly changing,” Widdows told CNN. And even though the perceptions are slowly changing—seemingly when it comes to both men and women—you might wonder, how did shaving become such an inherent part of people’s beauty practices in the first place?
CNN suggested that for women, hairlessness became a norm back in the 20th century; though even before—as far back as the Stone Age—ancient civilizations would get rid of body hair as well. (They would mostly do it for hygiene-related reasons or to show off class, in the case of Ancient Romans, at least.)
Changes in fashion trends in the 20th century were what prompted the popularity of the hairless body in the US. Sleeveless dresses, shorter hemlines, and other similar alterations of clothing exposed more skin, which now had to preferably be smooth. In order to reach the goal, shaving creams and razors appeared on the shelves, one of which—the Milady Décolletée, launched by Gillette in 1915—was marketed specifically for women.
Over the last century, as people went from embracing their natural hair to shaving it only to grow it back again, the topic never seemed to have lost its relevance. That’s why most people now tend to have a certain preference when it comes to body hair; however, their choice doesn’t mean that people around them should (not) shave accordingly too.

i'm an old fart now and i didn't know that when you get older your hair gets sparse. in my younger years the hair on my legs grew at such a rate that i could have woven 17 navajo blankets if i would have gone a few days without a razor. now, i rarely shave. i did stop shaving for a while and, at the time i was married, my then hubby noticed and made some nasty comments. but, after i ditched him i also ditched the razor. it's a personal choice and it's just hair that is meant to be where it is.
My track team has a similar issue, where people (mostly the girls) would feel akward if they hadnt shaved, ive had many of my teamates approach me asking me if it was ok if they took off their tshirts because they hadnt shaved... id have to look at them and tell them no one cared if you hadnt shaved and if they did then thats their problem... i personally shave because i find hair on my armits and legs uncomfortable... but if anyone around me didnt like shaving than i wouldnt have it any other way :]

That's hilarious! I (briefly) dated a guy who went on & on about how sexy women with a Brazilian wax were, which I thought was really bizarre dinner conversation. He'd never even SEEN my well groomed pubic area (I don't do random sex with strangers). I finally just snapped & told him, "The fact you want to f*ck someone who's p*ssy looks like that of a 12 year old is a huge turn off for me". And I never spoke to him again.
I personally dont like the look or feel of unshaven areas so I shave. Why would that ever entitle me to judge those who don't and pressure them into changing their looks and routine?? Poor girl's "friends" are fake, cruel and superficial. I hope she ditched them and found a group of ppl who have some sense instead.
You can't claim to support bodily autonomy, then shame and punish anyone who makes decisions about their body different from your decisions.
Amazing how I don't get rashes anymore. Why did we ever decide one gender must got hygiene but fine for the other?
Many men manscape. Especially when it gets long enough to braid down there. One time I had dream that the hair down there was so long it reached my ankles, so I, of course, went for the razor immediately.

Once I got married I once shaved up in the summer. I would go wooly mammoth all winter. Sometimes I don't bother for weeks in the summer as I just go to work and home so no one sees me. Hubs don't care. He has less hair than I do. I'll even wear a long skirt in the summer if I don't feel like it. It's our bodies so we can do what we want. Unfortunately we can't go topless at beaches. Lol
Well, i think everybody should do whatever they want shavewise and i don't mind seeing hair on bodies. But.... personally i think pubic hair sticking out of your bathing suit or bikini looks weird (i know, mather of taste). I would then shave, cover it or go completely naked. Problem solved. And... i do think that you should sit on a towel in public places when your private parts are visible (p.e. sauna's).
Not shaving doesn't equal not trimming. There's a lot of ground between a Brazilian and full on, never been touched, shrubbery.

Body hair is a PERSONAL choice. If you don’t like it, get rid of it, if you leave it, good for you. Nobody should dictate your body hair choices - not family, not friends, not partner. I am very hairy and let it all grow out in winter. My husband doesn’t like it, but he would never tell me to shave it. I couldn’t care less if people have hairy legs or armpit hair or even a bushy bikini line, it has no impact on me whatsoever.
Am I the only one who has less BO when I don't shave my armpits? I have super sensitive skin.. so I try to only shave when I need to because no matter what I do or what products I do & don't use.. I get horrible razor burn. (I'm not asking for advice on this. It's just what happens. There's no way around it except for laser & waxing & idc enough to spend money on that s**t) so I don't shave my armpits a lot. It never gets super long. I'm not a very hairy person. Like, I haven't shaved my legs in nearly a year & you can't even tell unless you're like 5in away from my legs & it's only near my ankle where you can see little hairs. Anyway, whenever I don't shave, I barely have to use deodorant. I sweat less too. I always thought it was like washing your vagina... don't use products, don't use fragrances.. just water & maybe a mild, scent free soap & you don't smell... which is true. It's the products that make you smell! So I don't believe that having hair makes you smell more.
I shave only my pits regularly, personal choice. My legs occasionally... according to my jealous female family members, my leg hair is thin & pale so I can get away with it...but bikini area is au natural since I started using tampons instead of pads decades ago. However, I also have no friends & don't date, so it's a moot point. 🤷♀️
I'm a woman and eew gross! To me it just seems lazy and it looks like you're dirty. Of course that is just my opinion and I would never force my opinion on someone who is different from me. If that's what they want then who are you to say otherwise. Just shut up about it and live your own like.
There are a lot of people who don't really get BO. In fact, a large segment of east Asia doesn't even buy deodorant because they have a gene that means their underarms don't smell.
