Daycare is the best option for busy parents who aren’t able to supervise their own kids throughout the day but want them to be looked after well. This might only end up being a problem if the child carers and parents disagree about something fundamental and aren’t able to resolve it.
This is exactly what happened when one dad found out that the teacher at his son’s daycare was showing the children ‘Veggie Tales’ videos. This kept happening despite his complaints, which led him to launch an entire campaign against the woman.

Sometimes parents and teachers might end up in conflict over what’s best for the children, and these kinds of disputes might be harder to resolve

The poster shared that when he found out that his son had been shown ‘Veggie Tales’ in his daycare, he questioned the teacher, who pretended she hadn’t done that

Despite telling the teacher that he didn’t want his kid to be shown that show, it seemed to continue, so he emailed the administration about it several times

Even though the teacher was later asked to take the ‘Veggie Tales’ tapes home, she still continued showing them to the kids, which forced the dad to take stronger action

Eventually, the man started a coalition against the teacher along with several parents, which ended up getting her fired, and turning everyone against him
Since the OP and his wife were quite busy, they had decided to enroll their son in a daycare so that he could be well taken care of. Unfortunately, they soon found out that his carer was showing him and the other children videos of the ‘Veggie Tales’ show, whose content the poster found quite inappropriate.
Although it might just seem like every other kids’ show, many parents take issue with the fact that it seems to have very strong underlying religious messages. That’s why, even though Veggie Tales may be celebrated for its wonderful moral stories, not every adult might be comfortable with it being played in educational or childcare institutions.
That’s exactly why this dad took such offense to his son being shown the show and decided to question his teacher about it. He was shocked when she tried to cover up the matter, and became even more frustrated when he kept complaining to the daycare administrator about it, and nothing was done.
It can be tough to deal with teachers or childminders who aren’t willing to listen to your point of view, which is why experts advise bringing up such issues in a public forum like a parent-teacher meeting. This can help other adults also get involved and come out in support, so that it’s not just you against a big administration or a mean teacher.

At first, the dad decided to take matters into his own hands, which is why he kept emailing the daycare’s administration whenever he learned that his kid was being shown Veggie Tales. After the constant back and forth, eventually the teacher was told to take the show’s tapes home with her and not to bring them to school.
The problem is that she still continued to show the children the videos, and the poster found out about it yet again. This time, he decided to play it smart and catch the woman red-handed, and used that evidence to rally several other parents behind him. They then formed an ‘anti-Veggie Tales coalition’ that ended up getting the teacher fired.
Although it might be incredibly satisfying to take such strong action in situations like this, it’s also important to understand the other person’s point of view. In some cases, the teachers or educators might have a valid reason to push for certain activities or shows for the kids, so parents should proceed with kindness rather than hate.
It’s clear that the poster was quite frustrated by being ignored by the daycare for so long, which is why he felt glad when the woman ended up getting fired. Unfortunately for him, the other parents felt guilty that the teacher lost her job, and they started hating him for having started the coalition in the first place.
What do you think about the dad’s actions, and what would you have done if you were in his place? Do share your honest opinions on this story.
Most people sided with the poster and were glad that he stood his ground against the teacher, who kept lying about showing the show to kids

I was wondering what was so bad about Veggie Tales, seems like it's an overtly "Christian" program, retelling bible stories, sorta thing. So yeah, completely inappropriate and yeah, get that bîtch fired.
Yes, I thought it must be cute little stories about Mr and Mrs Carrot and their adopted son baby Potato at first. Then I read it.

Load More Replies...Teacher got herself fired. OP proved teacher was lying about showing the kids "Veggie Tales."
As far as I know, Jesus did not tell his followers "It's okay to lie." So what's that teacher's excuse - "The devil made me do it"? If that teacher absolutely wants to show Christian cartoons, she should switch to a specifically Christian daycare or become a Sunday school teacher.
"As far as I know, Jesus did not tell his followers "It's okay to lie."" - I mean "Thou shalt not bear false witness" is literally a commandment.

Forget about Veggie Tales and religion. Daycare rules say not to do XYZ, teacher ignores rules and does XYZ anyway then lies about it. Gets told again not to do XYZ, ignores warnings and again violates the rules. Teacher can not be trusted, and a teacher that can not be trusted should not be in charge of watching small children.
she wouldve gotten at least a warning before being fired. why she chose to continue ill never know
Anyone who shows a group of kids any media that has been specifically banned should be fired and lose their PVG/whatever the local equivalent is that licenses you to work with vulnerable groups
I had to Google this one - I thought it might have been cute little stories about eating your vegetables! But no: religious indoctrination 😩
If this were a daycare affiliated with a Christian church, Veggie Tales would be okay, but it's not so no to Veggie Tales - very simple.
That it's Veggies Tales is irrelevant, it's the lying. The teacher wasn't fired because people were upset by Veggies Tales. It was because they repeatedly lied about showing it, it being something wasn't appropriate to be shown in the first place. Would the people feeling guilty or blaming OP feel the same way if it was an animated kids show about Islam? After all, if it's "just a kids show" like Veggies Tales, like they're claiming, then they also wouldnt consider it indoctrination, right? F*ck off with their BS.
I wanted to say I thought he was out looking for a reason to be offended at first... but no, it sounds like he wasn't that unreasonable, especially when promised by the administration it wasn't approved and shouldn't be shown... the fact the teacher was bringing her own media in, denied doing it, and then after being told to stop kept doing it? No, she's TA, and got herself fired. Frankly, I don't want my kids being given religious messaging of any kind unless *I* approved it, and who was teaching it. If I want my kids to get religious instruction in daycare, I will send them to a faith-based daycare.
Never heard of this myself ,so was like what’s the issue ,then I got further down the comments ,oh right bloody religious lunatics again got it, nope I’d be up in arms to I loath religious cults down to what they seem to stand for , ie harm wars etc hypocrisy, religion is something kids should be able to decide themselves ,not even the parents should be raking if down their throats lets alone teachers , op did the right thing !
Cute vegetables acting out moral stories, based on the Bible. They're completely inoffensive, if you don't mind your child being indoctrinated into Christianity.
Load More Replies...i think my family tried to show me veggie tales when i was two or three, and there was a scene that showed a cucumber girl swinging on a vine and singing. i vividly remember trying to process this weird thing on the tv and started crying because i couldn't figure out what was going on. i was never shown veggie tales ever again.
first time around could be an innocent mistake however teacher was warned, took them home and then brought them back after a week. not innocent
for the record, i'm a christian and if this was out in the open, everyone would have a choice. lying however makes it corrupt
Load More Replies...As an atheist, I have a few of the shows on DVD ... my favorite is "Jonah and the Whale" because it does touch upon mercy and compassion (something I feel is sorely missing among conservative Christians) ... that said, just like I'm against the forced indoctrination of religion in public schools via administration-led prayers, I am against forced indoctrination of religion via provider-led viewing of said programs ... meanwhile, I'm going to play "In the Belly of the Whale" later ...
Why was the school having the kids watch videos at all? I was a preschool teacher for many years and screen time was a no-no unless the teacher could prove that it taught a specific skill or lesson. We were not a religious school, but believed that play and social interaction were better than watching TV.
NTA. Fired? Good. Rightfulliest firing over a cartoon at daycare I ever heard. That poisonous ideology gets pampered and shoved into various orifices already, and having your kids indoctrinated in daycare isn't exactly what anyone, including reasonable christians, wants, nor can I imagine it being allowed. But then again, if this is in the US, the Karens and Chads are gonna have it their ways or make a huge fuzz about it, one that might belittle the fuzz this is about by some orders of magnitude - and they are immune to second thoughts, shame, modesty and reason itself. NTA'est I've read so far!
Im agnostic. This may be an unpopular opinion but we raise our kids to understand the value of some Bible stories in the same way they understand Aesops fables. Essentially there are some good morals or advice but it isn't FACT. I have a soft spot for some of the songs from veggie tales shows lol. But my opinion or religious beliefs isn't the issue here, she lied, she broke the rules. Period.
As a business, one has the right to make their policies. As consumers and parents, people have the non-negotiable right to honesty as to what their children experience at school/daycare. If you feel you have to lie in order to do what you do, you're immediately wrong.
If you're going to show the kids VeggieTales you should at least only show them the silly songs... like why would you show them the main programming that's clearly Christian if you're not supposed to have any religious affiliation. Yes, I'm Christian, and yes, I love VeggieTales myself as its kinda nostalgic, but with anything, if you're showing it to people who don't know what they're getting into it can be VERY intrusive and can be an invasion of someone's personal beliefs and trust. The main show is for people simply trying to teach Christian values and beliefs, that stays where these beliefs need to be taught, don't teach em in an environment where people can't say no. If you haven't before, though, search up VeggieTales Silly Songs, no Christian themes in those and they're all hilarious. TL;DR of my rant - Let people know what you're showing them. People should make their own choices. No one's going to get to know religion through force.
I think the main issue is the constant lying. She will probably get a similar job somewhere else and spin so she was discriminated against
Honestly i had to look it up, we were given way worse books in childcare back in the 80s. I get why someone would get upset about it but the measures he took are way over the top. next teacher should show them "watership down" or "animal farm" and then watch the kids inicting a coup at home.
