I always assumed that cutting sandwiches was something you did just to make them pack more easily. When I was a kid we'd cut them in two across the bread, made nice neat brick-shaped packages for picnics or school trips, then with the advent of pre-packed sandwiches from supermarkets the triangular cut was used for the best combination of display and package efficiency. Other than that, are you seriously trying to tell me that people cut sandwiches they make for themselves, at home? Naah, you're having me on.

I resented the expiration date assumption as well. I do usually check best-before dates (in French it's called a recommended date of consumption, so 'use-by' if you will) but am fully aware that they are not "throw-out after" dates, and more use them as guidance to whether I need to do a visual and nasal check before using. . Just had some fried eggs which were actually only dated about three weeks ago! Quite recent, for me.
