We’re used to seeing the world one way – north at the top, south at the bottom. But what happens when we flip it? Suddenly, even the most familiar countries look different.

This quiz is all about recognizing countries from a new angle. You’ll get maps of 28 countries, but they’re all turned upside down. All you have to do is look at the shape and guess which country it is.

Think you can still spot them when the world is flipped? Let’s find out! 🌍

That is the island of Ireland, not the country 'Republic of Ireland'.

Oh sure, I can recognise countries on the other side of the world, but not the one I live in 😆

I got a surprising amount of European countries right.#7 Canada was easy because I'm a North Coast USA person. I always forget what states Kansas City and St. Lois are in. I just assume they are in Oklahoma.

The map of China is wrong, it has a surplus of Taiwans.

The Netherlands and China bear a surprising resemblance without scale or orientation.

I’m not even trying this, though I did like looking at the pictures! I can’t tell what they are the right way up though, so no chance here 🤣

BP should learn the difference between "flipped upside down" and "turned 180 degrees".

For anyone who enjoys this sort of challenge - or wants to get better at it - Worldle (not to be confused with Wordle) is a fun daily game. You get shown an outline and after every wrong guess, you are given an approximate direction and distance to the correct country (6 guesses total). For advanced users you can also have it rotate the outline by a random amount. Only thing is I wish for beginners you could do countries only, as it does often include various territories and that makes some days very, very hard. [https://worldle.teuteuf.fr/]

I hate the island nations. Unless it's really recognizable like Cuba or Puerto Rico, I can't tell. Is it Bouvet Island, or Nauru? 🤷
