This Artist Creates Custom Pet Portraits Filled With Personality And Detail (52 Pics)
Pet portraits have a special way of turning love into something lasting, and artist Natalie Austin has built her work around exactly that idea. Through her brand, Pet-Picasso Designs, she creates highly detailed paintings that capture not just what an animal looks like, but the personality and warmth that make them so beloved in the first place. From expressive eyes to carefully painted fur, her portraits feel both lifelike and deeply personal, giving pet owners a meaningful way to celebrate their four-legged companions.
Austin is a self-taught artist from South Carolina who launched Pet-Picasso Designs in 2020 after painting portraits of her own dog and a friend’s pet and realizing how much joy the pieces brought. What began as a creative experiment soon grew into a full-time career, blending her love of art and animals into a business centered on heartfelt custom work. In this selection, we’re featuring some of her beautifully painted pet portraits that show just how much care, patience, and personality can fit onto a canvas.

How I would love such a portrait of my dear departed cat and guinea pig.
The paintings are beautiful. But since the photo would look more like my pet than even a painting could, I would just settle for the photo - and then take even more photos.
I have a very realistic painting of my recently departed Poppy, done by a house-sitter a couple of years ago. It's much 'better' as a piece of art on my wall than a photo could ever be. Picture to follow.
