My off and on 60 year old boyfriend and I have been thinking about renting a house together. After 12 years of being with him I gave him an ultimatum, that either we move forward towards marriage or I'm no longer waiting around. He took a few days and told me that he's not there with doing so at this time. I stayed through physical abuse, which stopped, verbal abuse and cheating. Thinking that when he says I love you, that he means it. I realized how stupid I was in thinking that was true but I left him, blocked his number and deleted anything associated with him from my life. Should I have just given a time out and waited for him to make up his mind? Or was the times up the best way to go with my situation?
