Earthrise By Astronaut Wm. Anders, Apollo 8 Mission, 1969
New theory! Earth is semicircle, not even flat not full circle! 😂🤣🤣🤣
Actually dish shaped and aliens use the inside as a soup bowl ;o)
Load More Replies...This picture is "just out of this world", agree? We are all sitting on a little ball of blue. WOW!
How could one not believe in God, seeing this?! It's truly powerful
A nerd would say that the earth can never rise over the moon, as moon is aways facing our planet in the same way (hence the dark side of the moon) . So the blue bowl would never move in that view.... Altho the earth shading and starry background would be changing.. Nerd out..
Chauvet Cave Paintings In France. About 36000 Years Old
Artistic talent is ageless! I hope this photo hasn't been retouched or if it has, minimally. The proportions and details are outstanding given the conditions they were created in.
I live near the "Grotte Chauvet" and I visit it often (well, the fac-simile, the original is closed with an armored door). The picture isn't retouched !
Load More Replies...The coolest part is that they figured out it's also the oldest animation! When seen by fire light, the flickering on different parts makes the paintings move. If you look at the top left lion, you can see how its head would look like its nodding
Winterland
Fall Of The Berlin Wall, 1989. Photo Raymond Depardon
IMO it was Rock and Roll and everything it meant about freedom and rebellion that brought down the wall.
It was mostly the fact that the failing Soviet Union regime decided to reform, and soften its image, in hope to attract western money, as they needed it. And decided not to support the satellite countries any more. The information spread and people realized they had the chance to get rid of this totalitarian criminal regime.

The Falling Man
possible identity of the falling man as Jonathan Briley, a 43-year-old sound engineer who worked at Windows on the World. Briley had asthma and would have known he was in danger when smoke began to pour into the restaurant. https://en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki The Falling Man - Wikipedia
For years, when they were speculating as to his identity, some families insisted it wasn't their loved one because they would never take their own life. Another commenter said the person was sucked out of the window. I am imagine several scenarios of having fire right next to you or NO OXYGEN and automatically moving out the window. Can't imagine someone would jump out the window unless they were forced. And speaking of forced, I can imagine people being pushed.
You can feel the loss, the letting go, the peeling away.... One of the most devastating things ever captured in a picture... The sheer loss of humanity is unspeakable.....
There is a documentary about him where the film-makers investigate who he may have been, as well as bring awareness that people were put in that horrible position. It should be available on YouTube.
Load More Replies...This picture will always tear my heart out - the sheer horror of it, face down, seeing death coming at him. I am crying even now for this doomed soul.
I remember watching this live. People hanging out of windows and falling like flies...heartbreaking.
To what purpose is showing this picture over and over? It's not right. Not fair to his family.
Copper, The Bestest Boy Ever
Aren't these supposed to be "The Best Picture In History?" I'm confused. How is this historic?
Albert
Tjis Bird
My love for the photo literally doubled after reading this.

He came back... But OK? According to my father, he was just cold and distant........ I think he just lost his soul at the somme...... My father was the same, he was a WW2 veteran, and had the same quiet distance.... We might glorify war but killing a man is a terrible thing..... I'd look at my father's hands and think" how many people have those hands killed?"

It is kinda weird, but they're edible! Wouldn't recommend it, really weird texture and taste is a lot different than poultry.

My one year old son loves this show. He can be screaming and crying over something, even in pain from bonking his head, and as soon as this theme song plays, all happy and smiles.
It's just for fun! It's okay sometimes to joke around. There's no need to be hostile, like crowspectre said. Besides, you chose to be on here knowing that there are younger and/or just funny-humored people on this website. Please don't be rude. Edit: Also, the description of this challenge is literally "Share the funniest or the best picture in history.NO RULES!".

Nov 24th, 1963: The frozen in time shot of Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald in the parking garage of the Dallas Police Department in front of cameras for the whole world to watch. The true power of photographs . . .
Good one! Nasty, but good. I have a vintage postcard from a wax museum that depicts the very moment in weirdly waxly humorous horrible detail. Oswald appears to be breaking into a song and dance routine
Load More Replies...One I think that should have made the list is the photo of the Sailor kissing that woman in Time Square. Another is the photo of the Marines and a Sailor raising the flag at Iwo Jima. Some may think those two irrelevant. However they fit the title of this article much better than many of the photos submitted.
I visited an exhibition were the Chauvet caves (number 3) were reproduced with photo's. Breathtaking. I spend an hour in awe, admiring the fact they applied perspective and used the cave walls to stress some of the animal bodies. Nothing primitive in these drawings and would happily hang them on my wall.
