When you’re traveling for business or pleasure, a great place to stay can make or break your entire trip. There are very few things better than feeling truly at home when you’re exploring other cities and countries. However, creating this atmosphere of genuine hospitality is quite challenging.
That being said, some hotel owners go above and beyond the call of duty for the sake of their guests. We wanted to showcase some of their brilliance, so, our team at Bored Panda collected some of the finest, most creative, and coolest hotel design decisions and solutions that people couldn’t help but take a pic of and share online. The Motel 6 I went to was great, I don’t remember where it was, I was on a trip around a bunch of provinces and we were in a bunch of motels, but it was the best motel we stayed at. The worst was this like mini cul-de-sac of rooms, they gave a few people keys to rooms where the previous guests hadn't checked out yet, the room I got was full of the previous guest's fast food trash, and the person who showed up to clean the room didn't say he worked for the place and we were a bit worried he was going to steal our stuff.

Serious question, as I'm female and I don't know how it feels for men: wouldn't this kind of thing be not funny? Would it feel offensive/weird/gross? I've seen pictures where men's restroom walls have wall decorations of people "pointing" towards the urinals and laughing as if mocking the size of the urinal user's weenie. This has always seemed sort of hurtful and not funny to me, but I'm not male, so I don't know. I know that if there was bathroom-stall decor in the women's restroom that was basically a photo of someone looking towards my crotchal area and making a disgusted face, I'd feel pretty off about it XD

I stayed at a hotel where different floors/sections were named after capital cities. When you show your ID at check-in, they'll see if there's a room available in your country section. I thought that was pretty cool. (Now, they also offered to rent a goldfish for the night if you felt lonely, and that p*ssed me off. The poor thing shouldn't be in a glass bowl waiting to be carried around.)

We try to stay in unique hotels when we travel. Many are very cool, but some boutique hotel rooms are more about being cool than comfortable or practical. And I can't tell you how many times it takes more than a minute to figure out how the shower works! Keep it simple for us stupid people!!
