It's been about a year since the world's last Blockbuster became exactly that. After the Blockbuster stores in Alaska closed, and the one in Perth, Australia collected its last late fee and turned its lights off, the 20-year-old location in Bend, Oregon, became the only Blockbuster store left on the planet.

Not only that, but Netflix and the whole video streaming revolution also appears to have made it even stronger since the establishment has adapted to the pandemic as well. Whatever they're doing, it's working and they're still operating, still thriving.

However, while they're the last Blockbuster store, there's one more on Twitter. A parody account with a confusingly clever name, The Last Blockbuster. And they're lighting up social media with tweets even wittier than Wendy's! Continue scrolling and check them out for yourself. After you're done, fire up our first article about their older gems.

Staying true to character, the people behind the humorous Twitter account told Daily Dot, "This account is actually run by a few of us at the store. We're a small operation, so we take turns running social media, working the registers, and cleaning out the return drop box. A lot of people seem to think it's a trash receptacle even though we taped up a sign that says it's for movies and games only."

They said that it's no secret they haven't been doing so well in recent years, with only one physical store remaining. "Since the advent of the Internet, streaming services have taken a sizeable portion of our customer base. But instead of lying down, we dug into research and found the problem wasn't the Internet, it was that we lost touch with our consumers. This account was created to get face-to-face with them and build a personal relationship for a better Blockbuster future. And to contact people who owe us late fees."

All this considered, these folks don't think that Blockbuster will entirely disappear from the face of the earth. After all, it has something those darn streaming platforms don't. "At Blockbuster, you get personal recommendations from serious movie buffs like Colleen and Debra. How many times have you struggled to figure out what to watch on Netflix? All the time, I bet. Here we always ask the right questions to help you pick out the perfect action flick, family comedy, or softcore adult film for your movie night."
