Do these people not understand what an oscar is for? It's for acting. That's all. Nothing more. If she followed the script and gave a fantastic performance based on the script then what's the issue?

She did a great job and was rightly awarded the Oscar, she had nothing to do with contract negotiations except for her own. So maybe leave her alone so she can grieve Bryan in peace and support her children, who must also be traumatised.

There's a line at the beginning of all of these movies that says "BASED ON A TRUE STORY ". Based. She did her job and did it well. The real Adrian Cronhauer said there were embellishments in the script that never happened and weren't accurate. Didn't hear anyone screaming about "Good Morning Vietnam".

Back up off Sandra. She don't have anything to do with what the touhy family did. She acted the part from the script, won the Oscar, so lets leave it there. Because if we start taking back Oscars for what people did then Will Smith shouldn't have one either. This woman just lost her husband so lay off!

Man, I felt gross after just watching the trailer when this came out and decided not to watch movie. The white savior vibes were just a little much for me, but my ick meter went off and I felt like something didn't seem right about it. Still haven't seen it and I'm not surprised at all. SB was not in anyway at fault though, and she's probably a bit busy grieving with her family rn to pay mind to this bs. I hope Michael sues the c**p out the irl "family" that manipulated and scammed him, I hope their rep is permanently ruined and they have to pay him back plus interest. Probably won't happen, but I can hope.

She won the award for acting and she did a great job. The award for conniving would go to the couple in question. It is not up to the actor to sit down and question them like it was the inquisition.

This can't be real. Nobody is stupid enough to think A) Movies are real. Even if they are based on a true story, you are a moron if you think it is a freaking documentary. And B) Sandra Bullock's performance accolades are related to financial issues a decade later. This post is just stupid.

This is insane. Someone else said that it doesn't matter if the story was real or made up. I agree she did an outstanding performance and if we stop giving awards for stories that are "made up" we should just cancel the awards shows altogether. Even those "based on a true story" have creative license to embellish or truncate the storyline so that it makes sense in 2 hrs and it seems that the family fooled everyone. Yes, they should be held accountable, but the actors did there jobs very well. Time to leave Ms. Bullock alone to deal with her grief.

Leave Sandra Bullock and all actors involved with the movie out of this controversial situation period. Those folks are actors the lawsuit has nothing to do with them.

Sandra Bullock won her Oscar for her acting skills, not the validity of the script. If someone has a problem with the script, take it up with the writers. Otherwise, remember that Hollywood is ruled by artistic license.

People love to get outraged over anything they can latch onto these days, to the point of stupidity and blindness to the facts. You are an idiot if you can't separate an acting performance from the real-life individuals the story revolves around. You are also an idiot if you think the producers could have somehow known something Michael Oher didn't know himself until February of this year. Sandra Bullock is not only a great actress, she's an awesome human being, and she's currently grieving the loss of the man she koved and just spent three years caring for through his terminal illness. This is ridiculousness.

Well, it sounds to me like no one agrees with her returning the Oscar. People win Oscars on portraying people that are completely lying. Her job is not to investigate or interrogate who ever she is portraying. She did a job to portray a character in a book. Even biography’s are one persons view. I don’t know the whole story is always three sides theirs yours and the truth. I have no idea what went on regardless it has nothing to do with an acting role. In the past they have done biography’s that were blatantly wrong and even changed major details. Whatever is between them is between them and their lawyers. It has nothing to do with me..

Aarrgghhh... I bumped the "Post" button accidentally. Continued: If a production company is going to bill a movie as "a true story," then it is THEIR responsibility, not the actor's, to verify the truth of the story first, before the script is written and/or finalized. I am appalled at the possiblity that the Tuohys may have taken advantage of Micheal Oher: leading him to believe, as a vulnerable 18 year old, that they were adopting him, when all they really wanted (allegedly) was a conservatorship, in order to profit financially from his future as an athlete. If true, that's heinous, criminal behavior. As the sister of two adopted siblings, I'm equally horrified at the emotional betrayal that this alleged crime represents. I feel deeply for Mr Oher. However, the only way to rectify the situation from an entertainment standpoint, is for there to be a new movie made, perhaps a documentary, with Michael Oher as the *primary source* for the script, so his story can be told truthfully.

I have absolutely no idea what any of this is about. What film? What NFL star? What allegations? Could this article be any more uninformative?

First of all, color me skeptical on this story, I'm sorry. Michael Oher just now found out about all this? He's been over 21 for a long time now. Besides, at the level that man played at, agents often oversee everything (because they want their cut of the profit!) There's just something really odd about it that I can't put my finger on, so until more details come out, which they will, I'm reserving judgement. Secondly, it all has nothing to do with the actors in the movie. But, haters gotta hate!

How does Reggie Bush giving his Heisman back because HE took money and other goods and services while playing college football knowing full well it was against the rules compare to actors reading a script? Seriously, make that make sense.

Well, that is saddening to hear the young man was taken advantage of, but that issue has nothing to do with an actor deserving and Oscar or not. Though I did think at the time that it was another situation of a fairly standard feel good story getting the accolades while the outsider film deserved the awards more. But that’s the Oscars for you. Most of the time the movies they pick for Best Picture are so damn boring or obscure. And people need to stop this cancel culture nonsense. So much noise.

Sounds like it needs a sequel (The Blinder Side?) that actually follows more recent events. Bullock could reprise her role and the story is based on the truth that's coming out now. Oher should get a cut from the new movie and the other people zilch.
