Stray Cats Find Drain Pipe Holes And Now They Are Having The Time Of Their Life
187Kviews
A Japanese photographer named Nyan Kichi dedicates a good chunk of his time out and about on the streets, capturing the beauty of stray cats – and there’s one particular spot with drain pipe holes that he loves to go.
There, he can find loads of strays who treat the area with lots of pipe holes as their playground. See, those kitties don’t need fancy and expensive toys to have some fun.
But, if you think they would eventually get bored of jumping in and out of the holes – think again. The photographer even got himself a prop to tease them with – and now the whole scene looks just like the Whack-a-Mole game.
To follow these energetic and athletic strays of the Japanese streets, make sure to check the photographer’s Instagram page.

It saddens me to see all those stray cats with no real home to go to. On the other hand, they seem to have their own little family there and from what I can tell all of them (on the pictures) look healthy and well fed. That's on the outside! I hope neighbors and locals give them what they need. Still... I never know what to think, when reading about stray cats. Some of them have been taken care of, but there're a lot which have to fight to live. All of this can at least be restricted, if politics and people would care more and spray strays. It shouldn't be that hard in a civilized country, right?
Yes, it´s sad but let´s not forget that these cats live in Japan, the happieste place on Earth if you´re a cat. Just look at any photo of japanese stray cats, they are all well feed, because japanese people take care of stray cats, and they seem to be very happy because not all cats were born and know what is a house, they prefer to roam freely.
This wouldn't let me respond directly to the cat eating comment, but I'm pretty sure cat eating is NOT popular in Japan!!
My friend and his wife found a stray kitten, thinking of bring the cat home. The couple brought the cat to a vet and the vet ask "was the mother around when you found it?" "ehhh... preob not..." "then I'll have no choice but to give it a euthanasia". The couple were furious but nothing they can do but to watch the kitten... Not all of'em but there are people who don't treat lives with dignity and will give you ridiculous answers to justify their action. (fishes are not animal, they don't feel pain, etc)
Oh? Have you been to Japan? One of my stray cats DIED IN A DRAIN HOLE.🙄😢

And eat cats too
I went to Lima, Peru on a trip once and they had a "cat park" in the middle of the city where all the stray cats lived. People came to sit with them, pet them, they were given food and water, and there is a team of veterinarians tending to their health. It lent such a lovely, peaceful vibe to the city of Lima and I spent time every day there during my stay.
Go look up "the truth about cat islands" on youtube. Japanese stray cats are not taken care of. They're being exploited as a tourist attraction, but not being given medical care at all. :(
My friend the idea of a "stray" cat is man made. This is their home at this moment, and they are happy!
Run over cats are man made also.
I'd say these cats are probably well adapted to living on the streets and even though they may have been better off in a domesticated home they would probably make a huge fuss and be a horrible pet cat if they were captured as they aren't used to captivity and being forced to do things humans make them do.
Hi Mark. Rescue groups everywhere are trying to curb feral cat populations, via TNR . Colony cats do very well and are very happy under the right conditions and many of them never live indoors. We trap kitties (humane traps) neuter them and return them to their colonies, after taking care of health issues. We try to catch mama cats, and they give birth indoors, in a shelter. The mama and the kittens are then altered and we find homes for as many as we can. The goal is zero population growth, but we are far away from that. There are so many stray cats everywhere that there is no way to save them all. But we try. We also try to remove the sick and/or wounded kitties from the colony. Vets donate their time, sponsors donate food . There is no government funding to be had in most of North America for feral colonies. There is also no official recognition of colonies and therefore no laws protect or regulate them. Our biggest problem is irresponsible humans who let unaltered cats out.
I've been trying to bring a family of strays inside my home for years. Although they eat on my porch, purr when I pet them and take naps un the flowerpots, they will not come inside. I had them neutered and give them veterinary care whenever needed but being a house-pet doesn't convince them. They enjoy their freedom toó much.
People rarely understand that feral cats are fine outdoors in managed colonies. Many cats never live indoors, but that does not necessarily mean that they are suffering and neglected. Cats being cats, your ferals may just take as long as they take to move in. Feral or not, they love to keep us standing by the door waiting for them to decide if they want in or out. : )
Cat licences should be $1000. Breeding licences should be $100,000. Fuckers would treat them better, govt would rake in revenue, and neutering would be enforced.
Yup, and chipping should be required by law as well. Buying from breeders is ridiculous because there are already so many cats in need. No pet stores, no breeders. It's way too easy for irresponsible dickheads to neglect, abandon or euthanize cats no longer wanted. There are regulations in some parts of the world. Not in North America though. The problem is global. Australia plans to kill 2 million (not a typo)feral cats over the next couple of years. People, have your cats fixed or keep them indoors. Such a simple thing to do, but we have ignored this issue for too long and most people have no idea how bad the problem is.
They are also animals for god's shake!
My own cat loved to pop in and out of an abandoned rabbit warren near my house.
I initially read this as "poop in". Probably also true.
well japan a firt world country , i sure there are people that take the cats to get fix in the vet or some organization . in my college there was a group of volunteers that take care of the strays in the campus , from cleaning poo to feed and take them to the vet for check ups , there was like a list because many girls wanted to volunteer .
