Polish Artist Splatters National Gallery’s Staircase With Paint And It Looks Absolutely Beautiful
Zacheta, Polish National Gallery Of Art, is a place which combines modernity with history. Usually, it holds exhibitions, but painter Leon Tarasewicz used it as a canvas and transformed Zacheta itself into an actual piece of art.
He covered the gallery’s staircases with paint. However, the chaotic look can be misleading, because in reality Leon had a clear vision of what he wanted to portray and carefully planned everything to look that way. At first, he painted the steps with base colors (blue, red, and yellow) at the top. Those three paths merge in one intersection which then combines their colors and everything splatters down the main entrance, perfectly framing a remarkable Gladiator statue.
When viewed from below, this rainbow of colors contrasts with the subtle sculpture above and creates a beautiful harmony between old and new in Warsaw’s oldest museum to show contemporary art.

I am afraid the cleaning staff got a heart attack when they discovered it.
The sides look messy. Would have been nicer if the sides had been kept clean.
I was gonna say! I really wish the artist taped off the edges so there would have been clean lines between the wall and the floor.

It now makes the stairway now interesting to the young audiance - the kids will have a smile on their face as they walk up these stairs > with their interest now SPARKED, they are likely to start looking everywhere to see if anything else fancies them like the stairs just did.

It reminds of my past. When I was much younger, and I worked with boy scouts, I remember we had a large room, where the boys would work on various projects. Many of these projects involved using paint, so our floor looked much like the stairs in these photos.
So unique I love it people are creating so many different things nowadays I LOVE IT!!!
Makes me wish I had stairs. Wonder how it would look on just the floor, color coordinated to the room?
Ooh you could splatter paint my wee stairs any day! Absolutely fab idea with an amazingly stunning result.
Am I the only one who thinks the splatters are too small and have an air of trying too hard? I think it looks too messy to be beautiful, that it would look better if the paint had only dottef and splattered on the steps, not the white sides. Beautiful idea though
