I Photographed Amsterdam Covered By Heavy Snow

Romanticising Amsterdam: the houses have been taken over by the rich, the streets by the junks and pimps. No original "Amsterdammer" lives there anymore. The snow is not as thick as it used to be. The canals are occupied by cars and bikes... Not the Amsterdam where I used to live. Not the Amsterdam I knew. But unfortunately, that goes for every major city in the world now.

This is a beautiful way to share your city. Great picture.

Maybe you can make a clicker for your bike and iphone. You could set an alarm off on your bike via your phone?! Just trying to help you find your bike quickly before your toes freeze. :) :)

These are just of few of the "discarded bikes". Bikes that people never come to collect because they were too drunk, couldn't find their bike, or just went home by taxi.

Biking is not healthy any more in cities like Amsterdam. The fumes and accidents are major killers of cyclists. However, it is kind to your pocket money. Parking along a canal is only for the "not so faint hearted" , and will cost you a month salary. Parking your bicycle is a hazard too. It will either be stolen by criminals or taken away by the council because there is just not enough room for the enormous amount of bicycles. Pedestrians hate the wrongly parked bicyles because they obstruct every sidewalk. It looks cool but isn't.
