It’s always great when you’re planning your wedding and one of your relatives owns a nice venue where you can host your reception! For free, if you’re lucky enough to have a kind relative after all, we’re all one happy family, right?

And then, once the venue owners have agreed and there’s no turning back, you can always try to twist their arm, setting deliberately unrealistic conditions and threatening to completely cut all ties if they refuse. At least, that’s what happened to the narrator of our story today, with her sister acting like a true bridezilla.

If you love your relatives and family members, there’s always a sad possibility they could blatantly overuse your love and kindness and here’s more proof

The author of the post has a sister who is getting married soon, and she asked the author to let her use her property as their wedding venue

The thing is that the author and her husband own a livery yard, and the bride-to-be believed that its orchard could be used for the reception

The author agreed, but then the sister rolled out a whole list of demands, some of which looked outright insane

After receiving a “no” this time, the sis berated both the author and her business, claiming she was selfish, and then cut her off completely

So, the original poster (OP) and her husband own a livery yard where they keep not only their own horses but also those of their regular customers. Our heroine’s spouse is also a riding instructor there. Like any business, it requires constant attention. So, when the OP’s sis recently asked her to hold her wedding in the stables’ orchard, she hesitated, but agreed anyway.

The couple decided they could set aside a separate area for the wedding reception and the subsequent baby shower without compromising guests’ comfort. But shortly before the wedding, the bride contacted the author again – this time with a whole set of demands. Yes, you read that correctly – demands, not asks.

The bride demanded that on the wedding day and the following day (when the baby shower would take place), the entire stable area be completely cleared of all employees or clients, that all areas be thoroughly cleaned, and that all horses be removed. Even the clients’ horses. Because otherwise, in her opinion, the atmosphere at the event would be ruined.

Needless to say, the original poster was nearly furious. Firstly, they couldn’t just cancel the customers, many of whom were longtime loyal clients. Secondly, the bride hadn’t considered the fact that there would simply be nowhere to move the horses, and it’s no wonder the stable smells of horses, ain’t it?

In short, the author refused, and as a result, incurred a wave of wrath and insults from both her sister and their mother, to whom she didn’t hesitate to complain. Later, however, the OP received a call from the sister’s fiancé, who apologized, but the relationship between the sisters was ruined. Well, the OP ended up getting completely cut off by her sister as well.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if this woman’s sister was a golden child years ago, because if everything was exactly as described, then their mother simply had to side not with the bride-to-be,” says Irina Matveeva, a psychologist and certified NLP specialist, whom Bored Panda asked for a comment here. “Or at least try to find a reasonable compromise.”

According to the expert, if anyone seems unreasonable here, it’s the bride, who put her wedding above everything, including her sister’s business. And after she didn’t get what she wanted, she couldn’t think of anything better to do than throw a truly ugly tantrum with baseless and hurtful accusations against her sister.

“This is usually how little children behave when they don’t get what they want. For most children, this behavior fades with age, but for some, unfortunately, it persists forever. So, I think the questions here are more for the mother of both women, who clearly had problems raising at least one of her daughters,” Irina Matveeva sums up.

People in the comments also strongly supported the original poster, calling her actions absolutely correct. After all, she offered her sister her venue for free and even tried to accommodate as many of her insane requests as possible. She did everything she could, and if her sister now cuts her off, perhaps it will be even better, the responders believe. So do you, our dear readers, also agree with this?

Most commenters, however, sided with the author, calling her sister rude, childish, and unreasonable

Well, sister will obviously not have a stable wedding. And looking at her selfish entitlement, not a stable marriage either

It's not about the money. It's about your clients who have a contract with you that you cannot abrogate without consequences. It's about the horses, living beings that need regular care and feeding. Your sister is TA.
