Thief Eagle Steals A Camera And Takes It On A 100-Kilometer Journey

When aboriginal rangers discovered that a GoPro camera they had set up to capture images of crocodiles eating had gone missing, they had no idea who the thief might be. At first, they thought that the camera had fallen into the water, so they forgot about it. Two weeks later, however, colleagues found the device about 110 kilometers away at the Mary River.

After the camera’s extraordinary journey, experts were able to extract only few minutes of video in high-definition. And it turns out that the culprit was actually a sea eagle!

Rangers say that they had their cameras moved by animals earlier, but this is the first time when camera gained wings. They knew that the eagle had been a juvenile because, had it been an adult, the camera would have been destroyed. When adult sea eagles capture prey, they take it to a high altitude and drop it. This juvenile didn’t yet know what he was supposed to do with his “prey.”

Isn’t that cool?
