Jordan Bolton’s “Scenes From Imagined Films” Comics Turn Ordinary Moments Into Deeply Human Stories (26 Pics)
Jordan Bolton’s work may already be familiar to Bored Panda readers from his wonderfully detailed recreations of tiny movie sets and posters, but his visual storytelling also takes a quieter, more introspective form. In his comic series “Scenes From Imagined Films,” the Manchester-based artist turns small observations, passing thoughts, and everyday moments into short, illustrated narratives that feel like fragments from movies that don’t actually exist, but somehow still seem deeply familiar.
The series began after Bolton wrote a screenplay but didn’t have the resources to turn it into a film, so he started creating drawn “scenes” instead. Using simple language, minimal imagery, and a strong sense of mood, his comics explore feelings that are often difficult to put into words: comfort, loneliness, wonder, anxiety, tenderness, and the strange beauty of ordinary days.

This is why I don't understand Nathaniel's troll (who is going by Benjamin this go around). All of us have all the time in the world and all the lovely things we can do and say and how kind we can be to each other, and yet he is obsessed with stalking and attacking and cutting down others. I have to admit that sometimes I almost feel sorry for him. All this time he has in the world and all these wonderful options he could choose to make a difference to someone. And yet he spends his time being obnoxious, hateful, and sexist. What a sad little world he must inhabit when we have all this beauty at our fingertips. And the result is that rather than greeting him when we recognise him like most of us do to each other, he inspires you to want to shut down and turn away. Oh well, I guess if someone wants to limit their world to hate and obnoxiousness, that's their choice. Maybe he was so hated as a child that he doesn't think he's worthy of positive interactions?
