What If Disney Characters Were Real: Artist Uses Artificial Intelligence To Answer This Question (12 Pics)
Interview With ArtistMost of us love cartoons. They were a huge part of childhood, teaching us valuable lessons, taking us on adventures we could only dream of. Most of us also had a favorite cartoon character that we looked up to, wanted to be like. But have you ever wished that cartoon characters were a little bit more realistic? It can be hard to relate to someone with overdramatized features—huge eyes, a tiny waist, etc. Well, this artist, known on social media as Toyboyfan, decided to show us what well-known Disney characters would look like if they were realistic.
He created a project called "In real life" where he uses artificial intelligence and his artistic skills to create hyper-realistic portraits of well-known Disney characters.
"For these A.I. edits, typically I start off with a photo of a Disney character and a photo of a real life person who I think looks like said character, then I put the two into the A.I. program that I use to merge the two together. Afterward, the result can look a little funny, so I take the resulting photo and combine it with another photo and so on until I get a somewhat realistic photo that kinda looks like the character. Then I will take the photo to Photoshop and start making tweaks here and there to make it look even more like the character, like changing the eye color or refining the face," the artist told Bored Panda.

OMG......my drreeeeeemmmssss.....sorry, drooled on the keyboard....
Everyone has flawless skin! This is NOT realistic! I get that their "perfect princesses" and all, but at least make them look more realistic. On the bright side, they're GORGEOUS.
Okay, this is even MORE obviously something made from ArtBreeder. Look at the EARS! They look like they're melting! and so do the EARRINGS!
I'm not sure why you are getting down-voted. The artist even states that they use AI to merge a photograph of a real person with image of a Disney character. ArtBreeder is indeed an image editing program that does just that. While were do not know with 100% certainty that the artists uses a program like this, it could be very likely. Some of the images have a rather "uncanny valley" feel about them that I can't quite place.
Load More Replies...Toyboyfan is a college student majoring in graphic design. He likes to play video games in his spare time, especially creative ones like Minecraft. He hopes that one day, he will be able to create amazing stories and worlds with his art: "Thankfully, I have a really supportive family who have helped me get to where I am today."
Moana
This one (although still cool) just doesn't feel quite as accurate as the rest. Her hair isn't as thick and curly, her hairline is different, and also she her eyebrows are shaped different too. I would love to see another version where the hair and eyebrows are captured a bit better! The other ones are just so fascinatingly accurate lol
This one is very cool, but Moana was actually meant to be Te Reo Māori
The artist states that the use artificial intelligence to combine an image of a real person (likely a model, actress, or musician) with an image of a Disney princess. Perhaps image of the real person that the artist used to create this image had greying or white hair.

Misshapen earlobe, some skin thing where the bottom lip is that really shouldn't be there, jewelry that seems super out of place, lack of tendons in the neck, WAY too much blur around the edges of the skin...ArtBreeder
"As for how the idea came up, I initially wanted to create a real-life portrait of Kristoff from Disney Frozen, just to practice my editing skills. I posted it to my Tumblr and suddenly everyone asked for me to do the other Frozen characters. Once I did the others and posted that, I started seeing the photos being reposted all over the internet, many people being amazed by them. I then noticed that they were wondering if there would be other Disney Princesses, so I decided to start creating them as well."
Kristoff Bjorgman
We asked the artist what inspired him to create art—how he began his journey. He mentioned that he has been creating art for as long as he can remember: "Ever since I was a kid, the behind-the-scenes features of movies, especially of animated movies, fascinated me. It has always amazed me how a whole world could be created by starting with a blank canvas."
Elsa
This is nice, but if they are to look human, all the eyes on these people need to be smaller and closer together.
I agree--in all of the artist's renderings the characters' features are perfectly symmetrical. Upon first glance, they look rather nice. However, the more I look at the images the more "uncanny valley" they become.
Load More Replies...It looked pretty at first but then I noticed ears.... confusion entered the room. She looks like an elf. She wasn't one.
These aren’t perfectly symmetrical at all. Look at jristoff and Moana’s eyes. Elsas eyebrows lips and ears are different
"My favorite part about creating art is getting to see the final result after all the time and hard work I put into it. My least favorite part is how long it can take to create a work sometimes," shared the artist.
Anna
She does have freckles, if you look closely, you can see them they're just faint.
Load More Replies...Shouldn't their face shape look more similar since they are related?
It takes the artist about an hour to create one edit, depending on the character. He shares why he chose to do Disney: "Because I have seen so many different versions of Disney characters in real life, I always wanted to try to do my own version of that concept."
Ariel
This artist is so creative, so glad to see these without those HUGE lips and over exaggerated eyes like I have seen some artists do.
Yeah, I noticed that too. I find it a little strange that it was edited/fixed in Photoshop after the artist merged the two images.

Don’t insult Belle by comparing her to that monstrosity. Their CGI crew should have been sued for that
Load More Replies...This one is a lot less obvious, but the top lip is assymetrical and her left temple is starting to merge with her hair. ArtBreeder.

Just to clear some things up a bit, this Ryder is from Frozen II, not Tangled. Hope this helped! :)
Load More Replies...Ryder and Honeymaren are supposed to be saami people. Saami people doesn't look asian, so this is a bit off.
Finally one of these "realistic versions" things that's *actually* realistic. Very nice :)
Kristoff especially looks like a guy you might run into on the street.
