The quarantine's brought a lot of free time to many of us. Some have been using it to spend more quality time with their family, some have picked up new hobbies that they've always wanted to try, some have started working out and some... well, apparently, some people have been taking this time as an opportunity to perfect their skills in making unsettling-looking eggs.
Recently, a Twitter user named Anna Hughes shared a post in which she told everyone about her quarantine mission. "Many people have been using quarantine as a time to perfect their bread or coffee making skills, but I personally have taken this as an opportunity to make increasingly unsettling eggs," Anna wrote in her post. She also added some photos capturing a few of her masterpieces.
Apparently, Anna isn't the only one with a hobby like this. Her post has since received more than 400,000 likes and almost 80,000 thousand comments and retweets of people sharing their own unsettling eggs. Bored Panda invites you to take a look at some of the most successful attempts.
First of all, let's take a look at the fateful eggs that started it all

No more eggs need to be made. This is it, we have achieved the ultimate step of eggvolution!
Satisfaction level 100. How is this egg unsettling? It is exhilarating.
Many people were quite fascinated by all these unsettling eggs. "These are unironically really good. Food art," someone wrote. "Excellent content," other user commented. Someone even said this: "This is not failing... You're just doing the opposite of the norm and i think that requires tons of patience and focus on detail, for that i respect u hoho."
🦉Ok, you might hate and think that owl is scary, but to be honest, it looks fine.
It's in the shape of an owl so yes lol

Some people even suggested techniques to help others make their unsettling-looking eggs: "Suggestion here to up your unsettling egg game! First whisk the eggs, pour them in the pan, and let them cook until solid. Then add one more egg on the sides. Now flip the solid egg part over like an omelette so you have an omelette with a runny inside like a sunny side up egg!"
So, was this baked, double broiler? How? Seriously, I am down with this!
But, but...why? I've been bored, but not that bored, lol. (That's a lie, I'm never really bored, too much to see or do.)
Some, apparently, weren't having it. "I’m calling the police," one person wrote. "The effects of COVID are worse than we imagined," other user expressed their concerns. "Thanks. I hate it," someone added. "This is very disturbing. You have achieved your aim. I am indeed unsettled. Also, The Increasingly Unsettling Eggs needs to be a Residents-style weirdo band. Put me down for a copy of the debut EP," someone wrote.
I disagree. I am sure that there are numerous things you are amazing at; cooking is not one of those things and that's okay!

Tip: one cup of water in the instant pot. Use instant pot rack. Add 6 to 8 eggs. Seal your instant pot then time it on high for 5 minutes. Perfect hard boiled eggs every single time! PS. And the shells slide right off when you crack and peel them. ☺️
Perfect hard boiled eggs: GENTLY place eggs in the bottom of a pan in one layer. Cover with cold water by 1/2 inch. UNCOVERED, bring to a rapid rolling boil. Turn off heat and cover for 15 minutes. Fill metal pot or non-glass bowl with ice and water. Lift the eggs from the boiling pot into the ice water. Add enough ice to cool for 10 minutes -- or keep cold water running. Must be cold, not room temperature.
This happens when you use an egg cooker. You have to prick the shell first and sometimes the white oozes. It's gross-looking, but it's just cooked egg.
From the plastic wrap in her hand, I'm hoping that this is a type of science experiment & the wrap replaces the part of the shell. More disturbingly, many years ago in my 1st year biology class at university, the lab tech came out with a fertilised egg & a flashlight. At first we oohed & aahed at the almost fully formed chick. Then to my horror, she cracked it open into a Petri dish full of alcohol!! Most of us freaked out as we saw the chick slowly die in front of us but the lab tech was unfased, pointing out different parts of the body. I hope to every deity everywhere that this procedure has ended. And this was at the University of Toronto, not a 'Trump University' style place.
i gasped when i saw this and thought it was photoshopped and i still cant belive it
wait. waas there a birb in there omg i need to know please tell meeeeee
Perhaps it's not a chicken egg or more than 1 yolks has been utilized.
Everyone is naming different kinds of eggs... are we sure that's actually an egg? It kind of looks like a piece of fruit to me. Like the image that had yogurt and half a pear made to look like an egg. I keep looking at it and thinking it's a mango.
Better for the 'gram than the flavour though, they don't taste as good as they look.
Double egg yolks are fairly common in jumbo sized eggs. They are right in the dairy aisle next to the regular large eggs.
There's lots of fun facts about double-yolk eggs but I don't want to be that person.
Why? that person is the coolest in my opinion
Load More Replies...I’ve ALMOST had a perfect dozen double yolks before. 8 to be exact in one carton. Oh the disappointment.
One time I got a carton of eggs and all but one egg were double yolked!
At least they don't look bad.
I feel like the egg white was poured and someone remove the yolk from a boiled egg and Ta-DA. 🥚🤔
yeah, I mean, we all know it's actually "bone apple tea" or "bone app the teeth"
Load More Replies...The only unsettling thing about these eggs is the use of a doily for a placemat. The attempt at humour is a swing & a miss...
I don't think it was an attempt on humour... It looks pretty enough to be a placemat......
Load More Replies...Not if you're selective. Buy jumbo eggs at the market. If an egg is especially big or tall, it is more likely to be a double yoke. I have had boxes of a dozen jumbo eggs that contained 8 doubles. And boxes that contained none.

Load More Replies...How did the egg spill and yet still be... Ok, you are confusing me a lot. 🤷♀️
No, English isn't their first language. Maybe be a little less dismissive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Friesland

There are two types of eggs. One which holds its shape and one that doesn't. 🕶
Please excuse me while I get my heart to stop pounding. That still developing chicken incident has scarred me for life
I have candled eggs and it is so awesome and magical, but the babies were safely tucked inside their completely intact shells. That horror show up top was the exact opposite of magical.
