You can thank, in part, social media. No one wants facts, they want b.s. that supports a preconceived idea. So they take to Facebook, etc. for like thinking fools. Then it's a huge echo chamber getting ever louder.

It is not a mental health problem, it is just a symptom and a cruel reminder of how easy it is to gain power by manipulating people. It also serves as a demonstration that there are people out there without a conscience, who is willing to harm others to get what they want. Be very cautious, some people fight very dirty.

It's harder than you think. My parents aren't full Q, but they got into Fox News and OANN. You can't break through the brainwashing. I am trying everything I can, and there has been some progress, but every so often one of them comes out with the sort of comment that would make one's hair stand on end. It's normal to them.

Not all conspiracy theories are created equal. A conspiracy that the government committed some crime is very different to a conspiracy that all the world's scientists are lying about climate change to interfere with American politics, or that the queen is a reptilian alien, or whatever.
