How can I live an independent life when I am the parent to my Parents.
My stepmother sits around waiting for my father to call her to join him at the Pub if he doesn't call out come the tears and the he doesn't love means can escalate to her getting drunk and wanting to commit suicide... I have had to stop her many times from doing so. Either by taking her to the hospital to get her help or stopping her outright. I end up calling my father to come home to deal with her. My father on the other hand can't hold a job because of his drinking. He will have a job for about 6 months get on his feet get an apartment or house before the boozing and womanizing starts again. Then they lose the home and move in with me to "get on their feet" and it starts all over again.
My question is am I being selfish, the last time I told them that I am accepting a job in another country so they can not count on me to be there anymore. I tried the moving across the country they followed.
