Millie Bobby Brown Reveals Jake Bongiovi’s Crazy Underwater Proposal And Near-Loss Of The Ring

Jake Bongiovi chose the tranquil world underwater to ask Millie Bobby Brown one of the most paramount questions of a person’s life: “Will you marry me?”

The Stranger Things star spoke about how Jake, the 21-year-old son of rock legend Bon Jovi, proposed to her in the middle of an ocean while she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

The 20-year-old actress spoke on the show about how their love for diving brought them closer together.

“We love diving. We got our diving licenses together,” Millie told the talk show host.

“One day, we were on vacation and he was like, Mill, you got to be awake at 8 a.m. We are going on a dive,” she continued.

While they roamed the magical world that lies several feet beneath the ocean surface, Jake gave the love of his life a shell with a ring inside. But a moment of horror unfolded underwater after the ring fell off Millie’s finger as she showed it off to him.

“It was like a cinematic movie. Jake threw himself into the water,” Millie said.

It was “so deep the diving instructor was like ‘you can’t do that, your ears, literally your brain will explode.’ He throws himself, and does a cinematic grab, opens, and he saved the ring,” she added.

They nearly lost the ring underwater but Jake Bongiovi grabbed it in the nick of time

Millie believes Jake’s heroic grab was a mark of how they take the leap for each other in their relationship.

“I truly feel it is a reflection of who he is and I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back and if anyone drops the ball, we got it,” the actress said.

She went on to say that Jake initially asked her mother for her ring but was turned down because her mother anticipated that it would fall underwater.

“My mom was like ‘Absolutely not, Jake, you’re not taking my ring down there. You’ll drop it,'” Millie said. “She was right.”

Jake did eventually slip her mother’s ring onto Millie’s finger while they were on dry land.

“He was like, ‘This is your mom’s ring and I got it from your parents.’ It was very magical,” she said.
