The reasonable explanation for her absence is, "MOG is not here because she is horrible and tricked her son in such a way that she got our honeymoon hotel reservation information and cancel our suite. We now have no where to stay on our honeymoon. We uninvited her and frankly, I don't ever want to see her again."

Easy enough explanation but do you want to spend the entire day answering that to everyone? OR would you rather just assign someone to cover her for the day to prevent further damage from her, enjoy the wedding day and then go NC

My mother and sister have both called places (doctor's offices and the like) pretending to be me. They know my birthdate and my social security number, so no one questions them. Their motivation is snooping/needing to know everything about my life. They also both open my mail (and try to pretend it's accidental) so I've had a PO Box for years now. Fortunately(?) they don't usually try to sabotage me/do weird things like cancel hotel reservations; they're just nosy control freaks. But I've had enough of a taste of this kind of behavior that I would go nuclear in OP's shoes. I'd have the text msg screenshots printed on giant posters and placed in a corner of the wedding, along with a poster-sized printout of the hotel's cancellation email, along with a written explanation of the "exhibit" as if it were an art piece. If anyone asked why the groom's mother was absent, I'd point towards the corner with its printed explanation of the story XD

That is illegal!!! But I also know it’d be hard to prove, and also you probably don’t want more drama though… I’ll be super pissed on your behalf.

I think we should normalize "because of reasons/we have our reasons" instead of explaining everything to anyone asking

Put the explanation on a tent card on each table. Make it as involved or as nebulous as one would like.

I agree that OP + Fiancé need to password protect the rest of the wedding stuff: venue, caterers, flowers, etc. Also, I hope they have security at the wedding + reception to make sure Mommy Dearest does *not* attend.

Restraining order, no contact for the rest of this h*g's life which I hope will be very short spanned, hire some private guns for the wedding and allow fire on sight if she comes. MIL is an insane b***h is a perfectly good explanation for your guests. Most of them would answer : "Yeah, we know".

in time you will look back at your wedding photos and see all the people love and care for in the pix you wont see the people that you felt you were obliged to put in the ceremony who tried to hurt and derail you special day and will probably continue to do so. Have a wonderful day knowing you are supported and loved and encouraged by those who you have chosen on the day. If the toxic one somehow heal and wat peace, then you can take a few anniversary pics with them. But it is yours and your fiancé's day of celebration first above anyone else's views. all the best xx

I'd write this down, put it into a frame, and put that frame on MIL's seat during the wedding. People can read for themselves why she's not there.
