Recent years have been scarce with lavish events where famous people could show their beautiful custom-made designer clothes. So when talks about the Met Gala 2021 started, people were very much into seeing what their favorite celebrities were going to look like. Of course, not all people find these events important and see them more like a vanity fair. Having this in mind, soon after the pictures of this year’s Met Gala event were shared, the internet was filled with funny memes mocking stars and their outfit choices. Which one of these 55 reactions do you like the most? Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below!

What is the Met Gala? We might think that this is another event that gathers all the celebrities in their posh outfits, but the Met Gala, or Costume Institute Gala, is a fundraising ball for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute based in New York.
I feel like the themes of the Met Gala are getting increasingly obtuse and that there is some very, very, very loose interpretation of said themes.
Wow, never seen this before 😳 Up to number 7 out of 30 cut from 54...& not a single comment for 3 days.
The very first gala was held in 1948 to raise money for the new Costume Insitute. The gala also marks the opening of the annual exhibition. Since then, this ball is known as one of the most important events of the social elite.
People who are interested in the Met Gala each year get to see a variety of extravagant pieces of clothing, very much reminiscent of costumes. These outfits vary according to the theme that is picked to represent the annual exhibition. This year’s topic was “American Independence,” so the guests and designers had the opportunity to express their ideas on the matter through various national elements and colors.
For those who are interested in numbers, in 2019, the ball raised 15 million dollars. According to New York Times, the tickets for this event cost 30,000 dollars. And even if this sum of money would not be a problem to the biggest celebrity guests, it is known that the guestlist for this event is prepared all year long. It is also very common for some celebrities to be invited by designers whose pieces they later wear at the ball.
His Nana knitted that for him when she found out he was going out late to a party.
She's too young to even know what vintage really is! And who is she?
There’s a picture of Rihanna right here in this list. Seriously BP, check your facts before posting.

I don’t think there is a single event I care less about than whatever the met gala is.
Really? How strange you spent time looking at this article then. Have you been kidnapped and forced to look at it?
I care about Madni Shakh's response to your post more than I care about the Met Gala.
I only care about the memes.
So what is the point of this event? Is it basically rich people Halloween?
In the past the METGala used to be a very prestigious fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of art (specifically their costume institute). Esteemed designers within the fashion world would dress their celebrity muses in elaborate costumes based on a specific theme. Some of the outfits were actually incredibly gorgeous. Now they invite TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube "Influencers" and there very few people who dress with the theme in mind. So yes, it certainly looks like it has devolved into rich person Halloween.

Really? Billie Eilish? Lorde? Lupita N'yongo? Chance the Rapper? Debbie Harry? Elliott Page? Rihanna? Jennifer Lopez? Megan Rapinoe? Alicia Keys? Tracee Ellis Ross? Ciara? Tom Ford? What do they all have in common? They aren't Tiktok, Instagram, or Youtube influencers. If you don't have a reference for ANY of them that's fine - but don't throw out bullshit.
Lea, never in my comment did I say ALL of them were social media Influencers. I was alluding to the fact that the MET Gala used to be a very prestigious event for both celebrities and esteemed designers and now has somewhat degraded into an event that invites social media Influencers for clout. Please take the time to actually read people's FULL comments before you accuse them of "throwing out bullshit" . I understand that critical reading can be difficult. ^_^
@Lea S. Loki's Lil Butter Knife didn't say all of them were social media influencers, only said that they were inviting those people
The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala or the Costume Institute Benefit and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit.
Doesn't it cost like, $30,000 per head to attend?
It's a fundraising ball/gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. In other words, kinda yes...?
Totally not a fan of the Kardashians, but say what you will, Kim was in way more of these posts than anyone else. She knows how to get attention.
Yep..that is what they are saying 👏
