“We Have Buckled Down On Our Dress Code”: Woman Kicked Out Of Restaurant Over “Revealing” Outfit
A nurse named Y’Mine McClanahan was kicked out of a restaurant she regularly visited. The reason? Her attire, which the establishment’s co-owner labeled as “too revealing.”
The Louisiana resident claimed the incident took place at Stab’s Prime Steak and Seafood in Baton Rouge.
McClanahan filmed as Dori Murvin, the steakhouse’s co-owner, denied her entry, explaining that her outfit—consisting of a floral top and floor-length skirt—was “too revealing at the top.”

“How long is a while? Cause I’ve been here two weeks ago with the same outfit on,” McClanahan responded. “My breasts are not out.”
On Facebook, the outraged nurse said she was ejected from the restaurant despite the waitresses being allowed to wear more revealing outfits.
“People can wear jeans, regular t-shirts, their waitresses can wear mini skirts with their butt hanging out and fishnets, but my set is too revealing for the ‘atmosphere’ they’re trying to create. Never again. I’m done with Stabs,” shestated on Tuesday (July 23).

On Wednesday (July 24), Stab’s addressed the incident in a statement, writing, “We have a dress code policy that we ask our customers to observe. A few times a month, we speak with our guests about their attire, including asking them to remove baseball hats in our restaurant. Contrary to reports, our attire policy is not new; it has been in effect for over three years now.
“We spoke with a guest yesterday about her attire, and she pointed out that we have waitstaff dressed in a manner that might not meet the standard of our attire policy. For the last several weeks we have actually been working on a different uniform so that we are not asking a different standard for our customers than we are requiring of our staff.”

According to Stab’s website, the restaurant bans “gym wear, sweat pants, tank tops, clothing with offensive graphics or language, exposed undergarments or revealing clothing” as well as “cut-off shorts and flip flops and torn jeans.”

McClanahan’s post with footage of the incident has received over 2,600 comments since she shared it on Facebook.
“Sorry that happened to you. That’s messed up,” wrote a supporter.
“Girl, their new attire policy even says no tank tops, so the hostess is breaking the rules!! That’s wild,” another noted.
“The worst part is that you KNOW if someone with smaller breasts wore that exact outfit, they wouldn’t say a THING. You look stunning!” a third commenter added.

Speaking with WAFB, McClanahan described feeling “mortified, violated, ashamed, and really humiliated” following the incident.
“You feel alienated, and it’s like, well, what’s wrong with me? What’s the problem with me?”
“The policy says no tank tops, but there she was, telling me that I had to leave standing in a tank top, so I have no words. It’s very disheartening that there’s no accountability or remorse for what has been done to me.”

The Baton Rouge Branch of NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), of which McClanahan is an officer, sent a letter to Stab’s requiring a meeting

“If you’re holding me to a certain standard for the atmosphere you’re trying to create, then why are your staff not held to the same standards?”
Reacting to the company’s statement, she said she found the timing of the employees’ attire modification “very convenient.”
“If that were the case, it should have already been in motion. It doesn’t take that long to fix a uniform.”
The Baton Rouge branch of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) has sent a letter to the restaurant’s manager requesting a meeting. The letter states that the incident “caused significant distress” within the organization and left them questioning the “consistency and fairness” of the restaurant’s policies.
McClanahan has told Bored Panda that she’s hoping to set a meeting with the restaurant this week (July 29-August 5).
“I see nothing wrong with the way you were dressed,” someone commented on Facebook

Yeah I agree. She is a very big girl so her chest area is more visible in that dress. Maybe if she wore a nice light scarf.. I still think her outfit is very average. Every third woman wears something like this. I don't know why she was picked over this.

Stab's is know for having two sets of dress codes for their customers. She could have had on the exact same outfit as the server and still been told to leave, and the next shiney person with pasties on would have gotten through.

I have read some psychology studies (well, at least the summaries, lol) that show that when wearing equivalent clothing, women of colour tend to be viewed "more sexually" than white women. Similarly, larger women also tend to have their bodies interpreted by the viewer as being more sexually provocative then smaller women. This becomes especially problematic when the studies adjusted for age, looking at young teenagers. The girls of colour and the larger girls were viewed by study participants as being older and more sexually advanced which meant that they were more at risk for harsher punishments (e.g. school dress codes) or victims of aggressive lotharios or having crimes against them minimized ("blame the victim"). A lot of the studies' participants who were viewing photos of different girls had no idea that they were carrying such biases. (They were asked questions like how old they thought girls were or how sexual/innocent they seemed.)

I have seen a certain famous celebrity (not gonna name her) almost naked at restaurants and nobody even blinked. Apparently if you are rich and famous you get away with anything.

I don't really like the dress, but unless it actually slips, it's no ground for dismissal. Let the woman wear what she wants not what you like to see

I am always curious about what kind of unhinged f***s think they can define what is and what is not appropriate to wear. Women and men go with their tits out in some parts of africa. In other parts of the world they are covered from head to toe. Some guys wear skirts! Some of those are cultural impositions some are personal choices. So i ask WHO thinks they are so god dam above others that they can dictate what other people chose to put over their bodies... My only explication is. People who have 0 sexual regulation. Literal f*****g animals who project that on the rest of humanity. The only caveat to this is protecting kids by hiding sexual organs that is about it.

While it's obviously not the case here, many restaurants require a dress code. It's more common in New Orleans to find a restaurant that requires jackets, dresses, and such.

I’m looking for a video but see nothing but photos of Y’Mine in a dress style that I’m pretty sure every female in the US has owned at one time or another. I’m thinking that the poster who claims this place is now for its racism is onto something here.
