People Are Cracking Up At This Story Of A 3 Y.O. Smuggling Her Pet To School In A Sippy Cup

It is often believed that childhood is one of the funniest and brightest periods in a person’s life. Learning about the world can lead a kid to make some crazy yet hilarious decisions that an adult might not understand at first. Maybe your parents also have some cute and playful story about you doing something funny that they can’t forget about to this day. One of these occurrences happened to this family who has a 3 Y.O. daughter. This little girl is now known to people as the kid who brought her fish to school because she adores her pet so much that she didn’t want to leave it alone at home. The tweet that told this story soon became viral and has put a smile on a lot people’s faces.

Seeing kids growing up is an interesting and sometimes quite funny process as they tend to play some funny tricks

Twitter user @Connor_J_Hughes decided to share some screenshots of the conversation he had with his cousin who has a 3-year-old daughter. The messages stated that the girl took her fish, put it in a sippy cup and later forgot that the pet was there, so she started drinking her water. She was later stopped by her teacher who noticed that there was something in her water.

Later it was found out that the little girl decided that she couldn’t leave her pet fish at home because she “loves her so much,” so when no one was looking, she took the fish named Mermaid and put it in her sippy cup that was full of water. The girl whose name is Peyton, being the caring kid that she is, didn’t forget to put some fish food as well.

The woman even sent a picture of the fish in a sippy cup as proof that her daughter really brought the fish to school

The girl’s mom, Lauren Scanlan, didn’t notice that her daughter had brought the fish with herself to school. Only when asked in an interview, she revealed that before leaving for school, the girl asked her mom not to come into the room when she noticed that there was some fish food spilled on the floor. The woman thought that maybe this was why Peyton looked so suspicious.

As the day went by, suddenly Lauren received a call from the school asking whether the mom knew that her daughter took the fish with her. The teacher explained what happened and how she noticed the fish in Peyton’s cup, who, at that time, forgot that she had her pet friend inside the sippy cup.

The man gave an update about the situation revealing that the fish is alive

This story soon became viral and encouraged other parents to share funny stories that involved their kids doing weird yet comical things. Some of the users got worried about the pet and even saw this situation as an act of animal cruelty. However, it was later confirmed that Mermaid was okay and her tank was “updated” so that a similar situation wouldn’t happen again.

What is your opinion about this situation? Do you also have a similar story to share? Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below!

I love when people wanna be the activist of the story and be all "but the fish is going to die now! Or the plastic could kill it" ..... how about you use that energy to educate yourself before opening your mouth considering betta fish can and do survive in stagnant water... also child sippy cups aren't going to kill a fucken fish. They're the safest type of plastic on the planet. Still terrible for the environment but safer than say... a coke bottle or water bottle. Yeah, I don't recommend putting fish in cups.. but the KID WAS 3 YO! Why would they ever expect this kid to do this!? So they had no reason to "educate" the literal baby on why this isn't okay prior to this event. Why can't you psychos just laugh a little. The fish is fine. The child is fine. Everyone is absolutely fine and you'd know that if you took the 2 seconds to look up where betta fish come from. Also, that cup was bigger than what petco sells them in. Use that energy n go after the pet stores treating them cruelly.

That's a very sweet 3-year old. Luckily she took a betta fish to school, aka, Chinese fighting fish, which has a special organ that allows tolerance for breathing in stagnant water. That's why the pet store can display them in small bowls. Although, filtration and ample space to swim is much much healthier for them.

People traumatized over a fish, and my mind is still worried about salmonella and stuff from drinking that water.

She's three. It's a fish. Some people really need to lighten up in the comments. I'm sure the parents explained why this was a bad thing to their child when they got home.

If that wasn't a a betta fish it would have been dead. Betta fish collect oxygen by breathing in air from above the water. So they don't need air pumps in their tanks. Unlike most other types of fish. Although betta do love the pumps because they play with the bubbles. They're very adventurous and observant little guys. I have a few and they're super smart. So the betta probably had a fun time observing the new surroundings. I obviously don't recommend doing this... at all. Betta need to be in a minimum 7 gallon tank. YES THATS RIGHT MINIMUM 7 GALLONS! Stop putting your betta fish in fucken bowls n tiny cups. It's cruel, Inhumane and absolutely disgusting. They're one of the smartest types of aquarium fish n they need tons of stimulation n enrichment. They can recognize people. They like to play n they can even be taught a whole boat load of tricks and s**t. So please, stop buying the "cute" little betta cubes n get a pet rock if u don't want it to take up space.

I feel bad for fish, even though I honestly don't even like them much. My friend's restaurant was hosting a private event for kids, and at the end of the night, the restaurant staff were asked to dispose of the leftover party favors. Dozens of live Betta fish in little plastic baggies. He brought me one and I stuck it in my coat to keep warm and rode home on the train with it in the dead of winter. I have no idea what happened to the other leftover ones.

i think it was funny and clever they literally said that the fish lived also its a goldfish and people who release them into the ocean (who are litteral dumbasses) kill the fish anyway and the ones who put them in fresh water lakes kill everything else living in said lake

It's not a goldfish. It would have died if it was a goldfish. Goldfish need oxygen pumped into their water otherwise they suffocate. Betta fish breath from the air above the water on their own. So they can live in stagnant water. That's where they're from. They live in tiny ponds, marshes creeks n slow moving bodies of water in Asia so they're very different from goldfish. Goldfish would not be able to survive in their environment. Actually I don't think there are many species of aquatic animals that can.
